(Received no responses on "Basic Drug Discussion", so I am posting here.)
Hello. First-time poster
I found this forum because I am interested in formulating non-psychotropic pharmaceuticals, so... I'm different in that way
I'm interested in creating a topical corticosteroid formulation for nasal application, and I was wondering if you all could help me formulate it.
Active Ingredient
- Ciclesonide
Inactive ingredient
- Salt (to adjust tonicity)
- Water
- Hypromellose
I have two questions
1) I need the ciclesonide micronized to optimize topical administrations. Any tips on how I can do that easily? Can I just use a mortar and pestle? Would a micron filter be helpful?
2) Ciclesonide is hydrophobic, and I believe existing formulations use hypromellose as an emulsifier. Is that really necessary, or can I get away with using something easier to acquire like polysorbate 80?

P.S. If this post does not conform to the forum rules, please let me know, and I'm happy to fix it.
