for those that claim marijuana isn't physically addictive...

Maybe if you guys don't like the withdrawls you shouldn't smoke so damn much in the first place, i mean, yeah sure i've done my week long pot binges myself but do you really need to be smoking weed 24/7 for a year +? Practice moderation and i'm sure the withdrawls wont be nearly as bad.

Not criticising you guys, i love weed too, just making a suggestion

deviate, I agree with you totally.
I get all the symptoms u said.
When I havnt smoked in a while I get really fucked up & paranoid. If I smoke every day my head hurts & I cant enjoy a meal & I dont sleep as well. I feel bored & emotionless till I smoke. If I smoke every day for ages. than stop a few days later I feel like im a certain type of crazy i cant desribe.
its not all in my head. thats just stupid. its pysically addicitve. period. maybe small compared to harder drugs but still physically addictive.

hi, i agree with most of what has been said... I've been smoking pot for the last 6 years (it was occasional for the first 2 years and then it gradually got more and more and now its almost everyday).. but it is only recently that I've been noticing the withdrawal symptoms: lack of sleep, loss of appetite unless i'm smashed.

I think anyone who thinks that pot doesn't have any withrawl symptoms simple hasn't smoked enough pot.

It's called being a drug addict, we MUST smoke that much ;)

increased sweating
* stomach pain/ discomfort
* insomnia
* increased somnolence
* general body discomfort
* extreme iritiability.

could these symtoms be related to nicotine wd? Or are you only smoking green?

As i have smoked heavily for 5 yrs then just at nite for 10 yrs and i havent noticed any wds, but then again i've had lots of opiate related problems so they could have been masked. I do know ppl around me who say they get some wd symptoms but all of them use drugs like valium and coke too.

It would make sense that there is some kind of wd, as there are receptors within the body for cannabis metabolites. Thus i would have thought the same hypothesis for opiate wd would apply. albeit not as severe. By that, i mean if ur body is used to getting an external supply of an internal neerotransmitter or ligand. then it will slow down its own production, thus when the external source is stopped withdrawal would in theory ensue.

Princess...I do smoke that much =\. I just think that these "withdrawals" are caused from psychological reasons. Like the general anxiety from not being high causes these symptoms. My reason for thinking this is the variety of withdrawal sypmtoms that people do report, the variety that effect only certain people, and the people that only have a few reactions.

I think it comes down to how you're using it.

Are you smoking at night or on weekends or in general just to have a little fun?

Or are you smoking constantly throughout the day to maintain a high?

I smoke every day and have for a year and a half or so, with moderate usage for the 5 years before that. But I don't smoke all day long and I rarely smoke large amounts, only just enough. So I've never experienced any of these withdrawal symptoms you all mention.

Weed is fun, but you can easily ruin it for yourself by overindulging and that's exactly what you've done.

Yeah, the only symptom that I've noticed the times that I've taken off is that I either dream more or remember the dreams better. Wouldn' really call this withdrawal, though.

Cheers,

Nope, i quit all nicotine use a couple of years ago.

Q to those who are daily smokers:

Do you still get the munchies? All the potheads I know are thin as fuck- never eat just smoke.

And if you do still get the munchies, are u incrediably overweight?

its different for everyone. I cant eat on weed, only when i stop smoking my hunger returns, also i cant sleep on weed untill it wears off.

ive been smoking for many years and when i take a break i never get any sort of physical withdrawal, except maybe a clearer head and increased appitite :)

Winter...I do not really get munchies anymore. If i smoke around a normal eating time i will eat and if not i usually do not get hungry. Some certain types of dank will make me hungry though. Regular stuff doesn't. Do you?

Yeah, infact thats one of the main reasons I dont smoke as often as I would like. Food tastes jsut so good, and I get an appetite that isnt affected by how much I eat (ie Ill stay hungry).

Seems weird, but since I had a fundo, my stomach is tiny and I cant eat much.

Another Q: How many of you find smoking affects your concentration, and to what degree. I told myself until exams were over I wouldnt smoke or drink.. and Ive already failed one of those decisions.

It would be nice to get a note from a mod as to WHY my post was deleted.

So I guess I will post it again

You get obviously different feelings when you are accustomed to the use of any drug. Are they true withdrawl symptoms? with a very loose definition YES

you want real with drawl symptoms, get addicted to opiates, now that is physical withdrawl

this kind of bullshit gives pot a bad name

I think you may have taken more than 30 minutes from opening the window to posting a quick reply - it only works for about 30 minutes I believe. There were some people complaining about their posts disappearing under those circumstances.

trippin spirals:

I've gone through (mild) opiate withdrawls, and i've gone through (not so mild) cannabis withdrawls. They both produce physical withdrawls with opiates are by far worse, considering it only takes a month of heavy use to make your withdrawls worse than years of pot use withdrawls.

but to claim cannabis doesnt have 'real' withdrawl symptoms is ignorant and irresponsible. they do exist and if you use excessivly for a long time, you may experience them. it's not giving pot a bad name, it's giving people the truth.

I did use pot heavily for abou a year. Using 3-5 times a day at my peak, which lasted prob 4 months.

the only withdrawl symptoms I noticed was a sudden abundance of free time

It seems you must smoke multiple grams of high potency cannabis daily over the course of a few years to get severe wd symptoms. It also probably depends on the person.
