Im taking a survey I recently experimented with meth and Im wondering how many people on the forum take it and how often? Is there such a thing as a responsible and moderate meth user?

I don't take it anymore (hell, i'm not doing any drugs right now) But when I did, i was very moderate. I used less than once a month, and sparingly at that.
A drug is only addictive if you let yourself become addicted.

I was smoking it for the past 3 weeks, everyday........ FUCK NO MORE!!!!!!! My throat is killing me!!! Fuck speed..... I like pain killers better
But shit, it was pretty euphoric.....

i'm lucky in that i'm not the kind of person who gets easily addicted to drugs.
however, meth is the only drug ( and i've used coke and codeine which are highly addictive) which i ever felt afraid of being addicted to. i once used it for two days in a row and then realized that it would be too easy to just stay up forever.
now, i've promised myself to never do meth more than once every three months.
i personally find meth to be the scariest drug out there, with the possible exception of high doses of psychedelics.

I can be bad with it. If left to my own devices I'll do it every weekend and sometimes during the week too when I'm real bad. Fortunately, I'm not left to my own devices very often. My boyfriend seems to be addict resistant to all drugs; so, I just let him hold all our stuff. Now I only party about once a month.

Here's an article I recently read on this topic:
Over the last months there has been an increasing concern over the use of
crystal/tina/glass (methamphetamine) among friends, acquaintances and
what sometimes seems the whole of the circuit community - use that often rapidly goes from "a bump or two to keep me dancing" to multiple hours or
days of snorting or smoking larger and larger amounts. There also has been a lot of "rationalized" daily use of a bump to keep me focused, or to
help in weight control or of course to get over the down from last
weekends use. This use appears to be with little concern, or perhaps
more importantly, knowledge of the affects of this drug.
Drugs will always surround us and the gay party scene, some are
controllable with few adverse long term affects - some have a higher
degree of abuse potential. If you do CRYSTAL, even if just occasionally, please take five minutes to read the following - Honestly ask yourself if you can relate to any of these statements and please make wise decisions.
Q: How does the drug effect users overall?
A: In all forms, the drug stimulates the central nervous system,
with effects lasting anywhere from four to 24 hours. Methamphetamine
use can not only modify behavior in an acute state, but after taking
it for a long time, the drug literally changes the brain in
fundamental and long-lasting ways. It kills by causing heart failure
(myocardial infarction), brain damage, and stroke and it induces
extreme, acute psychiatric and psychological symptoms that may lead
to suicide or murder.
Q: Why is methamphetamine addictive?
A: All addictive drugs have two things in common: they produce an
initial pleasurable effect, followed by a rebound unpleasant effect.
Methamphetamine, through its stimulant effects, produces a positive
feeling, but later leaves a person feeling depressed. This is because
it suppresses the normal production of dopamine, creating a chemical
imbalance. The user physically demands more of the drug to return to
normal. This pleasure/tension cycle leads to loss of control over
the drug and addiction.
Q: How does methamphetamine take over one's life?
A: Methamphetamine short-circuits a person's survival system by
artificially stimulating the reward center, or pleasure areas in the
brain. This leads to increased confidence in meth and less confidence
in the normal rewards of life. This happens on a physical level at
first, then it affects the user psychologically. The result is
decreased interest in other aspects of life while reliance and
interest in meth increases. In one study, laboratory animals pressed
levers to release methamphetamine into their blood stream rather than
eat, mate, or satisfy other natural drives. The animals died of
starvation while giving themselves methamphetamine even though food
was available.
Q: Is methamphetamine addiction difficult to treat?
A: Several treatment providers describe methamphetamine abusers
as "the hardest to treat" of all drug users. They are often overly
excitable and "extremely resistant to any form of intervention once
the acute effects of meth use have gone away." Meth addicts get over
the acute effects of withdrawal fairly quickly. However, the "wall"
period lasts 6-8 months for casual users and 2-3 years for regular
users. (Some people never recover and remain unsatisfied with life
due to permanent brain damage.) This is a period of prolonged
abstinence during which the brain recovers from the changes resulting
from meth use. During this period, recovering addicts feel depressed,
fuzzyheaded, and think life isn't as pleasurable without the drug.
Because prolonged use causes changes in the brain, willpower alone
will not cure meth addicts.
Q: Is relapse common?
A: Yes. Because there are psychiatric, social, and biological
components to meth dependence, there is a high likelihood of relapse.
Key relapse issues are similar to that of cocaine use and include
other substance abuse and being around drug-using friends.
Q: What prompts methamphetamine users to enter treatment?
A: Methamphetamine causes a variety of mental, physical, and social
problems which may prompt entry into treatment. Though not as
expensive as heroin and cocaine, its cost might also produce
financial problems for users and prompt them to seek help. However,
the most commonly reported reason why methamphetamine users enter
treatment is trouble with the law. These legal problems include
aggressive or bizarre behaviors which prompt others to call police.
Other reasons for entry include mental or emotional problems and
problems at work or at school.
Q: What are the federal penalties for methamphetamine trafficking?
A: The basic, mandatory minimum sentences under federal law are:
10 grams (pure) = 5 years in prison
100 grams (pure) = 10 years in prison.

Blue Lava ~ interesting article...
For whoever started this, when doing meth I tend to do it in binges, for example...lots during the period of a week, accompanied by little sleep and food in-take, then not do any for awhile (several weeks to a month) and do more...
Why the breaks? In short there are many unpleasant side effects to being awake and not eating for a week...thus I stop, but the love of being energized unnaturally keeps me coming back...

Initially when I started doing X I was doing a LOT of meth with it... genreally up the nose but I also experimented with other ways of taking it. At one stage my friends told me I was taking it too much so I just said I'd stop completely -- meth is BAD shit, probably the dirtiest of the "softer" drugs. It was only this saturday that I hd meth again recently and only then just the ol' dip and clean the teeth method... prior to this it had been 3 months or so.
I find X is much easier to become used to taking and indeed overdoing -- the longest I've been since the start of the year is 3 weeks, but generally I'm putting at least 3 a week down my throat. Recently started getting into coke which is too expensive to get hooked on, although if it was cheaper I could certainly see myself falling into its grasp.
Meth isn't too bad to overcome IMO... like anything it depends on the person.

"meth is BAD shit, probably the dirtiest of the "softer" drugs"
Hmm...Am I the only one that not only consider's meth to not be "soft", but actually one of the "hardest" drugs there is?

meth tends to be a binge-till-i-run-out-of-money-clothes-and-furniture drug... jus be careful, i always end up selling shit etc., very fast + destructive cycle of addiction. but hey, i weren't stealing or anyfing, so i had it all under control....
aren't labs a straight 20 yrs????

I buy some once in a while. Then I'll do it until the bag is empty(usually 2 or 3 weekends) and then I'll wait for another few weeks before doing it again.
Usually I stop cuz the feeling after doing it is SOOOOO fucked up!

I am a meth user. I am a responsable meth user. I have the ability to remind myself that no matter how much I think I may need a bump to make it through the day, I'll be alot better off without it. I can see myself becoming very easily hooked on it, and that realization has helped me NOT get hooked.
In the end, it's the same for every drug enthusiast no matter what substance it is: DO YOUR DRUGS, DON'T LET THE DRUGS DO YOU.
And I live in the middle of meth-central, Ohio. Crystal is the easiest thing to get around here. I would have a quarter-gram a day habit if I didn't have the willpower.
Adios,
Steve

Wow, so much ignorance to the drug...
Who hear has been addicited to the drug? Ok, everyone else, you have not been there, you don't know what you're talking about ..
Meth is not *that* addicitve of a drug, and like all other drugs, if you have a little self control, you can manage it just fine..
That article had a good bit of bullshit - the sentencing guidelines look like something that the author pulled out of his ass.. did Trinka write that?
So use meth every day, just be carefull that YOU don't LET YOURSELF become addicited .. remember, the ONLY person that can be blamed for an addiction is the ADDICT!

im a tweaker. speed is my drug of choice, amphetamines and methamphetamines. give me a choice of a line of finely crushed rock wizz or 5 lines of excellent coke, and i'll snort the wizz faster than u can say "tweak". (yes im a chick. no i dont like cocaine as much as speed.)
i dont have to do it for days on end everytime. i do it anytime i want, for as long as i want to.
sometimes for days, sometimes just 1 line, sometimes just a tiny bump. never did it until i ran out.
sometimes everyday. sometimes none for weeks.
