this is my experience with weed and low sex drive, might help if you feel the same...

I have been smoking weed for the last 4 years, (daily, small amouts, 1 joint before going to sleep, no other drugs)... I have experience low sex drive, boner problem... for about 6 months. I workout, eat well, sleep well, no depression related to weed...So I went to read about cannabis and libido problem. I found few articles about this subjects. Its hard to understand the link between the 2... So I decided to take a break! i'm now 2 weeks off weed, and I already see a big improuvement, morning boner, sex drive is coming back...

I guess having sex stone everytime changes things inside my head and also had an influence on my hormones or something. I'm writing this to help people with this kind of problem, who probably didn't know it could be related to cannabis. I will be on a break for a few weeks more, and when i'll be smoking again, I'll only smoke 1-2 time a months to make sure it never happen again. I guess everyone is diffferent.

I hope this will help some peeps!

see ya!

I've read tons of articles about how all the major recreational drugs (weed, booze, opiates, cocaine, nicotine) lower testosterone in males if used long-term. I can personally attest to the opiates lowering my levels of testosterone and DHEA because I got tested while I was on suboxone and my levels were well below average. Anecdotally I can say that I felt like my testosterone was a lot lower when I was smoking weed every day, although I never got tested.

Anyway, lower testosterone = lower sex drive. Glad to hear it's clearing up so quickly for you. If you want to speed up your testosterone production even more you can do full body workouts (back squats and deadlifts) or supplement with DHEA (available at any health food store). Or better yet, do both.

Can be that way. It really all depends on you and your body chemistry. My boyfriend and i both love stoned sex. He has never had any sex drive issues with me, or at all according to him related to weed. but pot for us both is also an important part of what helps us unwind and relax.

Infact i personally get pretty horny when i get stoned and hanging with my man.

I think sweet is saying his sexdrive when he is not stoned changed. Not when he is stoned. And I agree with you sweet same shit happens to me.

Sounds to me like he is saying he started having problems getting horny/hard while stoned. Which is why the break helped him improve his morning wood and stuff.

Everyone is diff...like i said my boyfriend and I are both long term pot heads and both get horny while we are stoned.

Lol while stoned almost everyone gets more horny, it has dopamine action after all. When you have abused it and are not smoking a certain day or so you will notice lower sex drive. You seem to be the odd case OP.

I've had it go both ways. Sometimes it increases libido and sometimes it decreases it, and I'm inclined to think that has more to do with my body's own natural rhythms than it does using weed.

Being high all the time will deplete dopamine which relates to pleasure, and it can act as a depressant which would lower libido as well.

Could you link me to some articles about DHEA/testosterone levels and using weed? Sounds interesting.

I feel bad for anyone who gets low sex drive from weed. It's funny this happens to me with every other type of drug other then weed.

There are some stud athletes who are well known potheads. Nick Diaz of the UFC comes to mind. He blazes all the time and you can tell he has no problem with testosterone (as judged by musculature, aggression and athleticism). http://norml.org/library/health-reports/item/norml-s-marijuana-health-mythology#13

I would tend to think that if you continue to workout and maintain your overall health, you're not going to have testosterone or sexual performance issues. Being couch-locked all day and living on cheetos will definitely ruin your manliness though. :P

I'd go to a doctor or medical professional and get checked for Testosterone if you're a man, or Estrogen if you're a woman.

You could be completely normal, have a hormone imbalance, or just have a low sex drive but everything works fine and you don't have any hormonal issues.

When I was using I would get horny from it; but everyone's different.

Im pretty sure the OP's boner is fine right after smoking, it's when not smoking that he experiences decreased libido which as far as I understand is pretty normal. I get the same reaction to cannabinoids. An acute increase in libido and a decrease over time. I stop using and it springs back into normal sober functioning action.

i was always super horny back in my stoner days. =D

nowadays, daily use of meth(IV) has completely stopped any and all thoughts of sex. even watching porn does nothing for me. weird considering most people become obsessed with sex/porn wile binging/addicted to methamphetamines. ah well, it is what it is.

-KING :!

I don't think this has anything to do with weed. I have a naturally healthy libido but it just skyrockets with marjiuana, the stronger the stuff is the better. As long as i'm toking I could go all night.

I'm sorry about your troubles but maybe looking at other stuff in your life would be useful as well? I would personally recommend some bomb ass hash to anyone who claimed they were having low sex drive.

About the articles you read, I don't have any knowledge about that but with the amount of lies that are written everywhere trying to villify the substance, I can totally see people who are against it for any reasons would want to shout that to the wind to stop people from trying it, so yea be mindful of hidden agendas.

Thanks for this. Very interesting because I've experienced the exact opposite. I've been looking for an aphrodisiac for a couple of months. I found a synth cannabinoid blend that has helped fully restore my sex drive. I've only had one session with it, a few tokes, and it seems to have re-wired me and given me so much more lust for the opposite sex.

Maybe moderation is the key, but I can't believe how effective this treatment has been for me.

Good luck with your recovery :) Do you know what I've found really helps aswell (?) I know it sounds weird, but a stick of celery as a snack each day!! I'll give you that tip, it'll take you a long way ;)

Ya idk I would assume it is in individual and even than a INDIRECT fixable effect of Weeed somehow I bet.

Me personsally, weed "used" to make me extremely horny, if I wasn't having sex I'd be having fun with myself high ;)

Nowadays my sex drive is so low it kinda makes me sad. Lately I've had so many beautiful girls approaching me (I don't know why... pretty sure I look like a junkie...) and I just don't care as much. I also smoke easily over a gram a day of premium kush, so that may part of it. Then again I'm prescribed 20mg Citalopram, 1mg Xanax, and I chain smoke... Ugh, my lifestyle makes it so frustrating when it comes to girls :|

There's your troubles! :) Oh jeez, I remember citalopram from years back, I totally lost my sex drive for months. A very common and frustrating side effect. Now, research has shown that maca root (Lepidium meyenii) when combined with ssri, will enhance your libido. I've only just discovered this fact this morning - I'm going to buy some this afternoon and give it a shot for a month or so :)
