I've really been craving healthy food lately. I've been eating lots of salads with grilled chicken on top.

I would kill for a granny smith apple right now!

I also want to make homemade granola bars when I get home. Honey, raisins, cinamon (perhaps a little oatmeal). Yum!

When I was in rehab in '93 I ate like a pig. Huge salads plus whatever the accompanying meal

I hope I get to do that again this time around
 
Salads rule. I make a really good one that's pretty well a meal in itself, start with a few handfuls of good greens (I like spring mix or herb mix), then top with:

sliced mushrooms
red peppers (bell or spicy)
sliced cucumber
crumbled tofu (medium or firm)
1 or 2 fried eggs
fresh sprouts

Then dress with:

1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp lemon juice
splash of vegetarian Worcestershire
1 tsp mayo
good dressing oil to taste
a few good cracks of black pepper

It sounds improbable, but it's really good. I like Udo's oil for the dressing, but a good olive oil is good too.

I like the dressing you suggest. I never had fried eggs on a salad (I gotta give that a try)

The pizza shop I worked at had a nice spring mix salad on the menu

Greens
Cherry tomatos
Crumbled goat cheese
Roasted Italian red peppers
Walnuts glazed with butter and brown sugar
Croutons
Raspberry vinagrette

Its pretty tasty but if too much brown sugar is used, the salad is ruined with sweetness

Simply melt some butter, add brown sugar, mix the two and mix in the walnuts

Yum!
 
OD- I hesitate to say this, but I have as Granny Smith Apple tree in my yard and there are WAY too many on there! We picked a huge bag of them and I ate like one- I was thinking of making a tart apple pie with some later tonight in order to use some of them up :)

I have been crazy for a german cucmber salad that isn't all that healthy- It is just cucumbers,onion,apple cider vinegar, sugar and dill. It is super yummy.
Another unhealthy salad that is delish is lettuce (or baby greens preferably), candied pecans,dried cranberries, blue cheese and a raspberry vinegarette- oh my god is it good!

Both of your salad recipes sound good guys!

I like bell peppers,cucumbers,onions,tomatoes and goat cheese with olive oil! yummy<3
 
You are sooooooo lucky, ocean! Unsprayed fresh granny smiths!!! Too many of 'em!?!? I'm an addict, that tree would be BARE after an hour ;)

The BEST thing about salads is you can put all your favorite goodies in them

Fuck I hope they have a salad bar like the last rehab I was at

I don't know much about nutrition but why isn't that cucumber salad healthy? Is it simply the sugar?

Cucumbers are awesome on a hoagie too. I like to make a chicken cheesesteak with romaine, provolone cheese, cucumbers, carrots and a nice olive oil or balsamic vinagrette

I have a feeling I'm gonna get FAT after treatment
 
Yeah- its the sugar that makes it bad :)

I love cucumbers.....we're going to a BBQ on Friday and I plan to make my cucumber cups- maybe I will take pics for you. I think my recipe is in the first recipe thread in SO.......

Getting fat after rehab is okay :) hahaha I love eating so- I say it is a much better addiction for you:)
 
Noooooooo! I spent a lot of money on this diet! I can see my abs and I want to keep it that way :)

I had an ego boost today! I had my shirt off and I was outside leaning against my car talking on the phone. This lady was sitting on her step smoking a cigarette staring at me. She was about my age and pretty damn cute!

When I looked over, she looked away real quick. I look over again and she just smiled. I had my shades on so I could look at her all sneaky

My self-confidence has been low so she had to be REAL obvious for me to even think she was checkin me out!

Haha! I was a piece of meat for a brief time today!

If you eat alot when you are in and when you get out- exercise more. Try eating healthier foods......
