Well, I just returned from my monthly visit with my doctor. And lo-and-behold...theres something new out there besides my d,l-methylphenidate.
Focalin. (d-methylphenidate)
They're marketing it as the "Right half of Ritalin."
Supposedly, the edge is gone. That crawling out of your skin feeling isn't like it was. I never got that that much...in fact I like ritalin a lot. BUT I like dexedrine more. I was unable to weasel a dexedrine tablet/SR script but Doc was completely willing (and in fact suggested) I try the Focalin this perscription.
Any experiences? Good/Bad feedback? It's a bitch to get, the Doctor said that I might even have to wait a few days for the pharmacy to get it. But I would assume that in this upper-middle class city/upper class suburb area...it shouldn't be much of an issue.
It appears that it could in fact be the best of both of my favorites...middle ground per see. I'm looking forward to it greatly. :D
Any issue with the tablets? Crushing issues? I couldn't find much so I turn to you all.

My Opinion: If you don't like ritalin this is the answer if a doctor is skeptical of giving out Adderall or Dexedrine. No SR exists yet, but it's a much smoother ride. The edge that many people complain about is lacking, but the strength of the normal methylphenidate is there.
I'd always found the dexedrine didn't have as much "Rush" to it. The buzz was yes, better, but for things like work/school I found Ritalin better. As well as for railing, Ritalin was IMHO better. While dexedrine was better in oral dosage.
I also notice my mood is much better. Ritalin tended to "dull" me out and by the end of a exam week I was rather blah'ed out. While it focused my attention, it did so with a more cold-efficency (thats the best way I can describe it).
BUT! It is a bitch to get. I called 20+ of a major chain before finding one that had it.
If you're currently on ritalin or any of it's varients (Concerta and that other XR or SR I think they have...) and dislike it or would want to try something else, ask your Doc what they think of it. Most still just perscribe either Ritalin or Adderall.

I have been prescribed 60 10mg focalin for the past four months from two different doctors.
8 out of 10 coke heads I've polled prefer it to cocaine or ritalin. It crushes easier, less powder, no paranoia or sketchiness.
Its really super stuff that Focalin.
Ritalin --> Focalin --> Adderall --> Dexedrine --> Desoxyn
I think thats it, the strongest strength is 10mg, and the most that is suggested a month is 60.
I may just be a foke head tho, but I enjoy these suckers more than any other prescription medication I've abused.

Interested? Go there. My doc though gave me 90 10mg per month! I'm suprised, it says the chemical is twice as potent as normal methylphenidate, and you're only supposed to take 2 per day. Oh well. I love the doc!

Sounds like that "new miracle ADHD drug" that they had on the Simpsons that made Bart an obsessive conspircy theorist... I think that it was called "Focusyn." At the end, he shoots down a satellite that enables major league baseball to spy on us. Somewhere I think there is a rather large thread on drug referances in various Simpsons episodes.

Focalin to me is a very different buzz. It's more focused on the heart, and seems to last longer then regular methylphenidate for me. I've always been an advocate that ritalin is better then cocaine in some persons. The very different buzz I was talking about is mainly because it feels much less uncomfortable but has an effect that slows my mind down to a snails pace, which is I guess what it's intended to do. I'll be mixing with opioids soon to try that combo.

Now why would methylphenidate be used for years and years..the l/d kind, and all of a sudden, they found out just the d-methylphenidate works better? Or just coming out with it now?
I assume some pharmacutical company (legal drug dealers) has a patient (or whatever they get, so they have the legal monopoly over the drug for years and years), which is so stupid because its damn methylphenidate, with just a "little change" so its only the dextro part. How expensive are these typically (talking, no insurance of course)?
Are they jacked way up so its like $2/10mg? Or is it actually at a decent price for those who either don't have insurance, or insurance only pays a certain amount? I'm just wondering what you people above have had to pay at the pharmacies for this "new ritalin".
It does sound interesting though, I always got nasty side effects from ritalin, and its 2-2 1/2 hour quick come up/quick come down.
