Yeah, DXM has very recently been given approbation as a fast acting AD against therapy resistant depression in a combo product together with bupropion, under the name Auvelity. But you don't need to buy this expensive combo product of course, and yeah DXM alone is sold over-the-counter (in some places behind the counter actually because too many teens stole it but still without prescription) in many countries. It needs a bit of experimentation to find the correct dosage, they add the bupropion to block two liver enzymes responsible for metabolizing DXM into other compounds including the major metabolite DXO which is partially responsible for the recreational effects DXM has.

I loved it as a teen for its instant and potent anti-depressant and anxiolytic effects. Somehow it appears to work best the younger you are and the less you used it before. If you're new to DXM, then it should work for you. Best are extended release or DMX polistyrex products and I'd start with once 50-75mg in the morning and once in the evening, or all in the morning if you get insomnia.

Btw, I'd recommend you to structure your postings a bit more, this isn't meant as a critic, just an input. Too much text without paragraphs is hard to read.

Thank you, and I do apologize for the lack of format. I get caught up in my thoughts and simply write. Thank you for the heads up, much appreciated. So, I could go to say Walmart and simply buy DXM? Is there a preferred brand? I actually take wellbutrin all ready, 100mg, once per day.

What are you thoughts on DXM in low dosages for Withdrawals? Would it be able to offset the anxiety and depression? I know it may be a stupid question, but I want to get rid of the meds, but obviously reduce the truly negative feelings within, mental, emotional and Nervous System.

Yeah! Just be aware that the bupropion will potentiate the DXM so start with maybe 50mg or 2x 50mg and check how you feel. The antidepressant effects should set in within a few days, maybe even instantly. I never used DXM for withdrawals so I can't really comment on this besides that there is some evidence it might work. For opioids but maybe also for gabapentin, really don't know. It should be effective against anxiety and depression though even if you get withdrawals. Just take the time it needs. And post how it's going for you! :)
 
Truth be told, if it can decrease the anxiety and depression, then I would go so far as to say, it can work. But of course, I must try it to see for myself. Each of us will process substances differently. It has me greatly intrigued, none the less. So, my plan from a 10000 ft level is to taper the gabba, add a bit of hydroxyzine and once the major depression and anxiety hits, try some DXM. I totally agree, start low as I do not know what will occur.

The thing is, I am not even seeking a high. I simply want to rid myself of the damn meds. I have been high enough times already, and although it has been fun at times, the feeling that one is tethered to meds does not feel good. It literally limits me, relative to how I live my life. Travel, or any extended stay away from home etc... Has me feeling that I have to have the meds or trouble begins. Worrying about making sure I have them, making sure the doctor gets my script in and my pharmacy has received it and is processing it etc...It is truly an insane way to live.

There is always a price to pay. Simply knowing the meds only eased a bit of my depression and anxiety, but will totally increase them by discontinuing the meds, really weighs on the mind and body, literally. I truly appreciate your input, and the careful approach you are seemingly taking. I have been on another site, and one clown is proposing a 3rd level plateau for my first DXM experience! Basically, just trying to get me to trip out or freak out etc...no help at all. I will keep my progress and status up to date here as I hope it works for me, but may also work for others. Thank you again.
 
Should I try tablets or syrup for the first time? Not sure if one is less intrusive, if you get my meaning, so I truly want to simply ease into this.
 
I have also queried my doctor about Auvelity. Sounds promising, chiefly because it is DXM with Wellbutrin! forty-five mg of DXM and one hundred and five mg of Wellbutrin. Sounds interesting to say the least. I would love to just take 1 med in lieu of the 3 currently. And then, rid me of the one remaining.

In my experience was low dose DXM an excellent anxiolytic and antidepressant as long as one doesn't mind some psychoactivity. But yeah keep the dose low, a 3rd plateau while on bupropion might get dangerously potentiated and I got panic attacks from such dosages even without other potentiators due to the potent norepinephrine reuptake dxm exhibits.

The problem with auvelity is its price, seems to cost around 600$ a month when both ingredients are available as generics. Depends on your insurance I guess.

I feel you about what you say regarding the Meds, I was a slave to venlafaxine addiction for years, just couldn't stop it because of horribly strong discontinuation symptoms and some years also morphine maintenance but I eventually beat both and am currently free of medication. Dissociatives (ketamine or analogues mostly because I stopped tolerating dxm when I abused it) are the only antidepressants I'd ever put into my body again.

It depends mostly on your taste and how likely you'd get nausea from syrup. Otherwise both are same, contain the same active chemical. Just watch out for combination preparations like coricidin cough n cold but that shouldn't be a problem when dosing 50 to 100mg per day.

It depends mostly on your taste and how likely you'd get nausea from syrup. Otherwise both are same, contain the same active chemical. Just watch out for combination preparations like coricidin cough n cold but that shouldn't be a problem when dosing 50 to 100mg per day.

Thank you again for the feedback. You had me about in tears, when you said "you beat them eventually"! Man, my dream is to one day be free of it all. It is simply scary to navigate how to do it, with the least amount of emotional impact. Anxiety and depression is what I wish to avoid, as I'm sure is the case with most of us. I am very appreciative of the respect and responses I received here and I hope I may have aided someone as well, by either relating to my story, or by preventing someone from starting on the meds that led me here. I would recommend kava. It is very safe. Definitely don't CT the Gabapentin. Just like, 1 less pill every other night until you're down to 300 or something, then you could ask for 100mg ones to have a better way to reduce it from there. I think kava will help a lot though. I'd try and not use benzos to come off, but it sounds like you were in a tough spot anxiety wise. Like others mentioned you can buy it online, micronized is nice but I don't know much about other ones.

Thank you. Do you happen to know if kava is a risk for dependency? I ask because seemingly all substances that address each "symptom" tend to work on the same receptors. Example is kratom. Yes. It helps for opiate withdrawal, only because it hits the same receptors, and if discontinued, triggers withdrawals! Lol! It seems that one has to endure the anxiety problems in some form, in order to get off of any medication or substance. Just thinking of that gives me anxiety! Lol! This is a bitch! Like we all say, "I wish I had never..." I guess it comes down to going with the lesser of evils, at the end of the day. My life is so drastically altered and different from how it was prior. Man, I just want "me" back. Doctors think detox should end the symptoms, but that is when shit gets real. I had one tell me that when the substance is out of your system you will feel better!? No way that is true! For myself, that just escalates my anxiety and depression. It is so powerful I actually scare myself. It's funny because, I am sure somewhere there is a herb or plant etc...that would cure this crap for good but it's either unknown or not shared. Addiction is the best money maker today and just like cancer it will never be cured for want of the dollar! Thank you for your post brother.
 
Kava is generally not addictive, it's quite subtle and helps with kravings from other drugs actually. From everything I've read of it, it's one of the safest substances out there really. It's been used in Fiji for thousands of years. Kava also helps people a crapton with opioid withdrawals.

I guess anything can be addicting, I've been taking this for 2 weeks but out of any drugs I've tried, it's the least addictive. I'm much more addicted to THC for instance, and I do have a kratom addiction. Although not debilitating, it's still an addiction, and I've been able to skip doses with kava, when I'd otherwise be hit with immense fatigue.

I know at least that kava hits the GABA-A receptors primarily, and I believe Gabapentin does as well.

I appreciate your honesty. Yes, Gabba is the receptor I hope to appease, in order to reduce or stave off the WD, so you are correct. I agree, lol, almost anything can become addictive. The physical dependence it the worst, as you know, so the ability to function relatively well, is the aim. Not sure if we can plug brands, but could I ask the company name that you have used? I will research on my own of course, but any recommendations are welcome. Thank you very much again.
 
No DXM yet. Picked up my klonopine and Depakote. Spoke to doctor and she prescribed them to help. Taper has started 2 less Gabba each day. Skipping the afternoon dose for now. Started Monday. So far I'm stable. Body aches severe in morning, chiefly in the shoulders. Not sure if it is related? 2 less per day will be followed for two weeks. From what I understand the symptoms can start in 4-7 days, so maybe they have not really started yet? Also, I have hydroxyzine from a year ago, and may use them as first line, for fear of dependent potential of klonopine. Hell, if we take ANYTHING for a period of time dependency is automatic, or so it seems. Thank you for checking in my friend. How are you doing?
