Fluoxetine (Prozac) and Vyavanse- Thoughts, Facts, Experiences, Etc.

I had a question in regards to Prozac and Vyvanse treatment plan. I was under the impression that these two drugs were not compatible, in that the risk outweighed the benefit. With that being said, I have also heard/ and read that these two drugs as well as others are often combined together for medicinal mitigation per Doctors recommendation.

So in other words it begs the question- Why is it thought to be such a significant interaction if its implemented daily, I can’t understand why it would be labeled so serious, why isn't it considered a "Moderate" risk rather than a "Major" risk if its consistently prescribed with one another?

Also, have any of you taken these two drugs together? If so, please elaborate on your experience.

The risk of serotonin syndrome is pretty minor unless you're taking 100mg+ of amphetamine, which no doctor should prescribe.

I've taken SSRIs and amphetamine before with no problem, but that doesn't mean you'll react the same way.

Start small.

It's a pretty popular combination. The risk is that amphetamines raise SSRI blood levels drastically, and in some cases they cause serotonin syndrome and SSRI toxicity.

Many however, can benefit from SSRI and amphetamine combinations. If it's in controlled and prescribed doses, you have no problem.

what if I take a little benzo to calm my nerves a bit. I feel very high strung and anxious..

It wouldn't be such an issue. If your feeling some negative symptoms, it wouldn't do much harm if you stop taking the SSRI until you can see or speak to your doctor next. Make sure that next is ASAP.
