Florida Teen Allegedly Kills Parents while High on Ecstasy

I guess he wasn't feeling the PLUR.

I don't think the murder should be blamed on E. Obviously the kid had much deeper issues. But I would caution others when they say that MDMA had nothing to do with it. There's two sides to every coin, and MDMA is no exception. I've noticed I feel increased empathy on E, but there are times when I also feel increased aggression. We are all ultimately responsible for our own actions whether high or sober, but drugs can give the final push to a teetering psyche.

Where I live, the principal newspaper usually just paraphrases the information that the police divulges. It's cheaper that way because the stories essentially write themselves.

If you wish to construct a syllogism: The news is reported by the police. The police are the legitimizers of government. Therefore the government controls the media. The net result makes it similar to state-run media in Cuba.

Nice!
But I would add one thing.
The police are the militaristic legitimizers of the government.
One can imagine a separate branch of government - say, the Peace Corps - legitimizing the government in ways that might not make the whole idea seem as offensive, if the P.Corps were given more money/power/respect.
Instead, we have the enforcers through violence legitimizing the gov.
Sick.

These are both really great posts. Sadly, I think the US is hardly alone in regards to state-run media. Not only Cuba, but the UK, Australia, Japan, China, Russia - essentially every major power. The US may be the progenitor though.

We started with Hearst. Other countries took note at how easily Hearst's yellow journalism led us into the Spanish American War, the drug war, WWI. Nazi Germany looked to the US as inspiration for both it's Völkischer Beobachter and its racial policies. The USSR had Pravda.

Im waiting for the anti-drug commercial already: If you take Ecstasy, you might end up killing your parents.

Sounds to me , Like One of 2 things happened here.

1. He didnt really get mdma, he got something else. Or he took something else that they dont know about.
2. He had been planning this for a long time, and he thought fuck it may as well Roll before i go to Jail.

Also, hes Eyes nose and mouth look to small to fit on hes huge Pieface, anyone else agree ? XD

Teen held in parents' killings signs autographs

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A teenager accused of bludgeoning his parents with a hammer before hosting a party at their home signs jailhouse autographs exclaiming "It's hammer time," calls himself "hammer boy," and says he has seen and talked to the devil, a fellow inmate told police.

The inmate, Justin Toney, described 18-year-old Tyler Hadley's jailhouse fame in interviews outlined in investigative files released by prosecutors.

Hadley has pleaded not guilty in the bludgeonings last July of Blake and Mary-Jo Hadley. Toney told investigators that Hadley is known as "Hambo" and "Bamm-Bamm" by other inmates and that he has given autographs, including some on news articles about his case.

Every time a new inmate is admitted, Toney said in the Feb. 21 interview, Hadley makes an introduction.

"What's up man?" Toney quoted Hadley as saying. "You know who I am? I'm the hammer boy."

The inmate says Hadley has given differing accounts of why he allegedly committed the crimes. First, he said, Hadley blamed it on medication he was on. Later, though, he said Hadley explained it was because he wanted to have a party and knew his parents wouldn't let him.

"All this to have a party?" Detective Kristin Meyer of the Port St. Lucie Police asked. "That's what he said," Toney replied.

Toney said Hadley told him he'd been contemplating the killings for about three weeks and had considered using a garden tool instead.

"He said he seen the devil," Toney said. "He said he talked to the devil and the devil talked to him."

Rolling Stone just wrote a long piece of this guy: very interesting stuff here:

http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/news/tyler-hadleys-killer-party-20131218

Tyler had been telling his friends all week that he was going to have a party, but nobody believed him. He'd never thrown a party before, and it was impossible to believe that his parents, who had been increasingly strict with him lately, would give their consent. When his friends asked whether the party was still on, Tyler replied, "I'm working on it." They assumed that meant it was off. At 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011, Hadley received a Facebook message from his friend Antonio Ramirez.

Tyler Hadley: sup bra

Antonio Ramirez: Chillen what you doin tonight?

Tyler Hadley: tryin to have a party at my crib

Antonio Ramirez: Your parents ain't home?

Tyler Hadley: nope

Tyler Hadley: well their leasvin soon

At 1:15 p.m. Tyler posted a message on his Facebook wall:

party at my crib tonight…maybe

No one was convinced by this, but at 8:15 p.m., Tyler posted another message:

party at my house hmu

Still his friends remained incredulous.

Ashley Haze messaged: "WHAO what what if your parents come home"

"they won't," replied Tyler. "trust me."

Then there was his friend Matthew Nobile, 17, a junior at Port St. Lucie High School, who had this exchange with Tyler at 9:40 a.m. on the morning of the party:

Matt Nobile: did u do it

Tyler Hadley: no but im gonna

Matt Nobile: bet?

Matt Nobile: u really should now

Matt Nobile: do it

Tyler Hadley: dont worry i am

Tyler Hadley: then im having a party

Matt Nobile: yeah party time nigga!

God what a ridiculous set of events.

Unless it was something a little harder, at least meth, he was just waiting for the mood to spark on this one.
People down here are insane.

He should have taken them an hour or two before... Instead of "at the time of the murder"... Then he would have been feeling empathy instead of hatred and this could likely have been prevented.

A few years back, I was mugged at gunpoint outside of a nightclub I was at that night while peaking on some very good molly.

While admittedly I was scared (a very sobering experience), something unexpected happened about a month later when I bumped into him at a house party - again, while rolling on some quality MDMA.

Had I been drunk, I think that one of us would have ended up in the ER. However, I was in such a loving mood that I decided to try and discuss with him why he did what he did.

Long story short, in the end, he apologized, and we became friends, and still hang out on occasion. It may sound hard to believe, but it's the honest truth.

My point being - I don't see how someone high on actual ecstasy could murder his parents. However, if he is mentally ill, perhaps MDMA could have exacerbated his symptoms. Or, the ecstasy he used may have contained RCs, pipes, meth, or something else.

Either way, it's especially tragic because - like others have said - it causes more misinformation about MDMA to be engrained in the minds of those who are susceptible.
