Flight MH370: Where the FUCK is that plane?

Click that for a scary theory. Tl;dr? Shah steals plane with full fuel tanks, flies around pretending to ditch in sea but actually goes on to friendly radical Islamic country. The 777, one of 1000 in the world, now has the capability to appear as if it actually is ANY ONE of the 1000 in the world. Such as a flight from Mumbai to London. Camouflaged as such, it can fly unhindered to London (because authorities would see it as the real Mumbai flight) and dump a shitload of chemical/whatever weapons in the middle of London town, suicide stylee.

Sweet dreams.

EDIT Oh hahaha. The link will now take you to the comment - but the Guardian have removed the comment. My summary of it is pretty accurate. So why would Comment is Free, as the Guardian laughably call it, remove it from its pages?

Too close to the truth?

A friend of the pilot was inteviewed by the BBC yesterday. He stated that the mans character would not lend itself to him intentionally doing something extremely maverick like deliberately switching off the comms and diverting a plane-full of passengers to some unknown location or doing a suicide dive bomb into the sea or something.

I would guess someone/or a number of people physically overpowered the crew to get into the cockpit when one of the pilots opened the door to go take a piss or something.

What happened to "The Bermuda Triangle" of the 70s ? Didnt loads of planes 'go missing' around that time :?

The Bermuda Triangle thing is just superstition, the number of planes/boats vanishing isn't abnormal and most that do vanish have reasonable explanations.

Also heard that theory yesterday. Apparently a bit over-egged. Technically possible but not really in any country with modern air control systems. Would work in some of the poorer countries though.

Which bit isn't technically possible Shammy? He wouldn't necessarily have to fly over any country, just the sea (where there is no radar) to reach Yemen or Somalia. To reach Kazakhstan he would have to probably edge China. But if there is one thing this has shown it is that radar is nowhere near as infallible as previously thought and can be defeated by altitude, incompetence or laziness of humans who are supposed to be watching, or simply the poverty (as you note) of countries who cannot afford to have high-tech stuff switched on all the time like we expect USA/the west to do.

Also, where did you hear this same theory? Link?

It's real interesting that the Guardian removed this comment within 5 minutes of it being posted. If you follow the link it still takes you to the page. The guys name is Independent1. You can read his follow up where he is aghast at the censorship "commentisfree" at the Guardian have employed.

The bit about being able to appear as a different plane. Dodging radar, yes you can stay off the grid more or less, over any built-up areas - specifically ones with decent flight control stuffs - would give the game away. The situations you mention - Yemen, Somalia, Kazakhstan - yeah, would most likely work for those. Was the suggestion it could get to London - or any other major city (particularly Western cities, but anywhere that has reasonably modern radar/ground control-type technology) - that I was disputing.

Having said that, the source is not exactly the most reliable. No worse than a random bloke called Independent1, mind. Can't recall the fella's name in this case but he does write on airline disasters as a day job so presume he has some knowledge of which he speaks. And it is only the part about flying over modern, built-up areas that he was saying was not possible. The rest is.

Cool. As regards "random bloke called Independent1" well, all I can say is he has verifiable stuff on CiF if you care to click his name and look at the stuff he's been posting. I've been reading a zillion ET conspiracy bullshit comments on there and his stuff stands out a mile as being most intelligent and informed. He has been, verifiably as I say, constantly ahead of the game this whole past week. Obviously this doesn't make him 100% correct but he's been the least mental person I've encountered on a message board for a long time. He told me he does problem solving and problem anticipation for a living. Likesay, everything else he's said makes sense. And it was ridiculous his well laid out argument was edited into oblivion while you're allowed to ad-hom or discuss ET to your hearts content on that board.

PS Apparently there's a meeting of world leaders for some nuclear business in the Hague next week. Nice target?

You guys want an interesting theory? Read the OP right here.

Short-version: China's got the plane on Coco Island, where there is an abandoned military base. China is going to pull a "Chinese 9/11" to leverage support for expansion. And it's timed around the events of Crimea. China definitely benefits from (its ally) Russia taking Crimea. And its relationship to Taiwan or to the islands it contests with Japan is comparable.

But click the link, the OP does a pretty good job typing it up.

OK, I will but...you really need to learn how to spell Crimea. People will take your conspiracy theories more seriously if you can spell.

Haven't read what everyone said but I'm going with a simple 'it crashed off the radar'. Incidents happen where black boxes aren't picked up for whatever reason once in a while. Don't remember the name of the plane but back in 2007 an Air France jet crashed in the Atlantic and they had no clue what happened for months - didn't even find the actual plane until 2011 because the waters were so deep. I highly doubt anything different's happened this time.

There we go. First sensible thing said about this. You're spot on, there was an Air France crash a few years back and they didn't find the wreckage for ages. Which is why I'm a bit puzzled at the mad confusion and conspiracy theories surrounding this one.

Folk were shouting all sorts of madness about this thing within hours of it happening.

I'm going with - Simple plane crash. A load of rubbish has been fed to the media, turning this into a mad story and diverting attention from Ukraine.

There's yer conspiracy theory ;)

Or Aliens/The Chinese stole it for jokes.

America did it.

A new report circulating in the Kremlin today prepared by the Main Intelligence Directorate of the General Staff of the Armed Forces (GRU) states that Aerospace Defence Forces (VKO) experts remain “puzzled” as to why the United States Navy “captured and then diverted” a Malaysia Airlines civilian aircraft from its intended flight-path to their vast and highly-secretive Indian Ocean base located on the Diego Garcia atoll.
