Details: On Thursday, March 24, over 800 young, aspiring, and established film, art, fashion, music, and communication technology professionals from around the world will converge in Miami, at Macarena's Lounge, for the Social Groove Tsunami Fundraiser. This event takes place during the Winter Music Conference (see below), and will serve as one stop on the Social Groove Tour, with other events taking place in Houston (Feb.18), Ft. Lauderdale (May.29), and New York (Oct.). This event seeks to raise much-needed funds towards relief efforts for the tragic tsunami that occurred in SE Asia. Many prominent artists, industry professionals, and entertainers have volunteered their talents to ensure the success of this event. The event will donate 100% of its funds to Mercy Corps, a non-profit group that are knowledgeable and proficient, and already working effectively on delivering critical food, water and other supplies to over 100,000 survivors in Indonesia, India and Sri Lanka. (see www.mercycorps.org). During the course of the event, some of the nation’s most prominent rock, hip-hop, electronic, latin, and experimental artists will perform. A surprise esteemed guest will host the event, among others, showing their dedicated support for the cause.
