First timer with LSD... So curious

I am going to a festival in a few weeks with my bf and his best friend. My boyfriend is experienced with acid and his friend does not plan on taking any. I have never tried it. Let me add for good measure, I am very comfortable around both of them and they are truly good people.

My boyfriend bought two tabs and said if I wanted to try one, he'd give it to me. We picked it up from his friend who said it was "decent quality, nothing too crazy". He basically got it for free, but he also bought $100 worth of MDMA so his friend kinda threw it in as a bonus. Based off this, my boyfriend said he doesn't think it will be strong... But then again, both him and his dealer are pretty experienced with cid so what may be "decent" to them, could send me to another planet.

I want to have fun and I think this will be a once in a lifetime experience, because my boyfriend is kind of past his LSD days (aside from this festival). I'm just worried I'll be frightened, anxious, unable to walk or talk.... Basically just an overall bad trip.

Also, we would take this on Friday and were all planning to take MDMA on the following day (Saturday). I am experienced with Molly and am excited to roll. Rolling on Saturday is more important to me than tripping Friday... I don't want the LSD to put me in a funk where I am too exhausted or weirded out to roll the next day. I've been reading up on HPPD, which seems rare from just one hit, but has sufficiently scared me regardless....

I am excited but also nervous, I'm not sure how the crowds and music (Flying Lotus, STS9, and Modest Mouse) will affect me. I don't want to get really weird or freak out and ruin everyone's day.

I trust my boyfriend and he is experienced, plus his friend will be a sober sitter. As a side note, I will have some Xanax, which I heard can be useful with an overly intense trip...

I know any "how much" or "should I" posts are prohibited, but I would like to hear your general thoughts on this. Taking half a hit is always an option as well, or I can just go with the whole thing.

I'm wondering also, as to when the best time to dose would be, since I've read the come up can be tough. I don't wanna be in the wrong place at the wrong time, and I definitely don't want this to ruin the rest of the festival, leaving me too sketched out to roll the following day...

Again, I know this is very subjective. I'm not asking for specific instructions or dosing... Just your thoughts! Any input or advice is welcome!

Hello,

Relax. It will be all right.

Most of us(me and my friends) did LSD for the first time on a festival, exactly like you are going to do. It is a really pleasant experience if you are around the right people and if you don't mind being around strangers.
All the people i know that have had bad trips were emotionally-non-stable people and/or took to much on their first time(2+ tabs) and/or wern't doing it with the right kind of people/were uncomfortable in crowded places/around strangers.

If you have some kind of "safe spot" on the festivall(camping or tent since it's multiple days ?) to retreat to if things get "too heavy", you will be all right and have a blast ! If you don't, "scan" out the festival for one.

You should not let yourself get all worked up by things like HPPD or "sending you to another planet" if you are emotionally stable person and don't have any (social) anxiety issues.
It won't happen with only 1 hit unless you have any underlying issues.

You won't freak out anyone, most people are fucked up on festivals and won't pay attention to what you're doing anyway.

Don't take a half hit, you'll most likely be underwhelmed. Festivals + LSD truly are an amazing experience.

The come up won't be "tought" unless you are taking a strong dose. The only "toughness" about LSD is probably the sudden body high. Visuals develop gradually. (for me at least)
Just take the hit whenever you want. When you've found your chill spot, smoked a joint and had a drink for example.
You won't be sketched out... There is only an "after glow" or "refreshed feeling" the next day.

The worst thing you can do is worrying about the experience... Smoke some weed, take the hit and ride it out...

This is probably not the most "harm reductive" advice, but it stems from personal experience so it might come in handy to you :)

People make way too big of a deal about HPPD, I've actually never known anyone in real life to suffer from it. I'd be more concerned about MDMA related changes to your serotonin system than I would be about HPPD.

^ Yeah most people who claim to have "HPPD" just have residual visuals from tripping too much, that might sound like the same thing but it's normal if you've taken psychedelics a lot to get some minor visuals left over for a few weeks after your last trip, everyone gets that pretty much with certain psychedelics, and it goes away very quickly, it's just people don't take long enough breaks and start thinking it's always there, then tend not to come back to tell people it went away after a break.

As for the experience, of all the psychedelics I've tried, LSD was one of the two kindest and most easy-going. Don't get me wrong, it is one hell of a ride, very intense, but in a way that doesn't feel physically or mentally uncomfortable. It's more a case of "Wow - my brain's really capable of all this? Damn!", beautiful experience and LSD and AMT are the two psychedelics that I feel based on my own experiences I'd be happy to give any new-comer to psychedelics for their first time.

If you're *really* worried go with your gut and don't trip, but being a little anxious is fine, psychedelics are powerful tools and they can turn your life around in a wonderful way if used correctly, so they deserve respect - anyway if you're still a little anxious but want to go ahead with it why not take half a hit instead of one? Low doses are great too with psychedelics you know. I find it's more about the feelings of connection, novelty, and renewed beauty in everything around you that are important, rather than visuals or mindfuck that become more apparent with higher doses. Just have fun, I'm sure you will! :D

There's nothing tough about LSD's come up, it's fairly quick and it eases you into the experience. Sometimes people encounter the DOx series of psychedelics on blotter being sold as LSD, these can take several hours to come up and can have some negative bodyload, but if your boyfriend is experienced with LSD and knows what he's taking he should know how to avoid it. If he isn't sure, get a test kit, look up Ehrlich's reagent, it's a test for indoles that would narrow the substance on blotter down to basically being a tryptamine, almost certainly LSD.

Whether you do it or not, enjoy the festival, and if you do, hope the LSD first time is as wonderful as mine was :)

The only thing you have to fear with LSD, is fear itself. Cliche, but if you keep that in mind I'm sure you'll love it.

Some people find spirituality on LSD; others like a buddy of mine find it to simply be fun in the same sense smoking some good weed is fun. It's a very subjective experience. For me on higher doses, I get plastered to the ground and suddenly feel the universe around me like never before; for that reason, I think dosing light with one tab is a good idea to start. If you normally don't get nervous simply being in public, I think you'll be fine.

should be no trouble
maybe a bit noisy and crowded
but nothing you can't handle and enjoy

nothing to get serious about.
