First time with Adderall: how to effectively split pills

Hello,

I have recently acquired two 30mg Adderall XR (d/l-amphetamine, extended release, 12 hours) for use as a study aid. (IB and AP Exams!)

I am a 17-year-old 93lb/43kg male with NO amphetamine tolerance, I was originally planning to mix and split the ER balls evenly to make a 15mg dose, but this seems too much. I am now thinking of mixing and diving them into thirds, to make 10mg - is this too much also? I would be very grateful for any advice about dosage and dosing. Effectively mixing and dividing the balls inside the capsules seems hard and sketchy!

I will be at home with my parents, so I would not want a high enough dosage for them to notice. Also I would like it to not be as long, 8-10 hours or so, as I would like to be able to sleep before 3:30am. I need to take it at 3:30 as that is when I get home at school, no earlier unfortunately. The other days of the weekend are more flexible obviously.

please use the search function, youre questions have been answered to death. im going to send this over to BDD so you'll get some replies.

theres a great source of information in the mega threads and FAQ's here in OD as well as the OD Directory. there's a section specifically for adderall where your questions are more than likely answered.

i would personally start out with 10mg if you've no tolerance. dividing the beads could be a bit difficult though. i would suggests crushing them with a mortar and pestle or something and then divide the pile as evenly as possible into the dosages of what you want.

eg - a 30mg tab crushed up, divide into 3 even lines and you should be left with a dose close to 10mg per pile.
 
I would not be to worried about being perfectly proportional with the "balls." I would say take more or less half of the contents of one if you don't want to take the whole, I don't see 5mg making a big difference but i have some degree of tolerance. As for not alerting your parents that's hard to say when your on a stimulant it is hard to catch yourself acting "speedy" even if you are.

Also adderall should not last more then 6-7 hours but note that if you consume things that are strong bases and cause your PH to become higher the adderall will have a longer effect.
 
Sorry, I did search for some answers but I guess I did not try hard enough

I think I might just keep the beads so I don't destroy the time-release, and also it won't hit so hard that way.

Is it true that the best way to consume the beads is to sprinkle them ontop of ice cream and then eat it?
 
lol @ the ice cream idea. While not necessarily the most efficient/best way I'm sure it tastes great and gets the trick done. I would just swallow the beads with a swig of water if you don't want to destroy the time-release. Also make sure that, especially if you plan on keeping the time release, that you don't take them too late at night. You don't want to be up studying until 5am with the test the next day. I would say take one dose around 3-4pm if you want to comfortably fall asleep around 11pm, but thats just me.
 
eh ya i dont know, i always crushed mine up and was ready to sleep by then, maybe it would be better to take them a little earlier if your worried about getting to sleep on time for the tests.

Indeed, especially if you can't sleep.

If you're worried about said sleep though, either take some melatonin(best for me), Benadryl, Unisom, or just smoke some pot.

But after 12 hours you should be fine.
 
Hahah, my first 30mg adderall pill kept me up a solid 24 hours.

The second time I used it, I ate up a 20mg fast-release. It had me buzzing hard, studying FURIOUSLY fast, but I still couldn't fall asleep for 24 hours. I took them around 5PM, though.
 
Can you use melatonin with amphetamines? I don't see why not but im not sure. If you are feeling to "up" or want to slow down you can try to drink acidic drinks like Lemonade or Cranberry juice, This may help eliminate the drug faster but in my Experience adderall is pretty short lasting, some people take 2-3 a day for medical purposes

If you're worried you can do this. 7.5 mg will be very easy to handle.

You will want instant release not extended release if you are going as low as 7.5 mg for it to be worthwhile.

And this goes without saying but I'd just like to warn you of the addiction potential of this drug.

edit: Just wanted to add, I think 7.5 mg instant release would be the perfect dose for your age and weight, etc. Make a rule for yourself as to how much you can take in a night and stick to it. The first night I did adderall "to study" I dosed and as soon as I was coming down I was ringing my dealer's phone to buy more. I ended up buying 150 milligrams (no tolerance) and taking it all that same night. It's just such a good high. If you stick to 7.5 milligrams you won't get high but it will help you study. Be careful with this drug.

oh please its not that addictive and its not hard to not act speedy either its not like ur gone it just makes u more in touch with reality even at high doses i ALWAYS felt as though i could act normal its not like ur drunk or something..
 
Adderall sometimes has a pretty energizing effect on people without resistence. If you get the dose right it will be no problem though. I think what safety said about 7.5mg is a very good suggestion
 
I took a 30mg adderall this morning before the SAT and its effects weren't too much at all. The biggest change I felt was my writing ability. I felt like the words were just flowing out of my mind onto the paper - it came so naturally to me. I also was tapping my feet pretty fast the whole time, but I generally tap my feet all day during class anyway, so I didn't worry much about that. I think what helped most, though, was my attention span stayed with me much longer. I was still pumped about taking the exam at the end of it. The first few sections I absolutely rocked, then the rest were still pretty good, just not 99% perfect like the first couple. Overall though, I think it helped improve my scores, mostly on the reading and writing sections though. In the math sections I felt about as confident as before, but I spent a bit too much time checking and rechecking my answers. I found that skipping a question I was confused about and coming back later helped TREMENDOUSLY, even though it usually doesn't help much. When I returned to a question, it was like a fresh start on it.

Anyway, I'm probably rambling by now (it's still in effect). Just don't worry about taking too much. My friend gave me a 30mg tab because he's huge, and it wasn't anywhere near too much. I'm 17 yrs old and 115lbs, so similar body type to you. I didn't even look at the mg on the pill, but looking at pictures online, it was definitely the 30mg one (half orange, half seethrough).

Perhaps you actually have ADD, and that's why it helped you concentrate but didn't really affect you that much. 30 mg for someone without a tolerance (who doesn't have ADD) will last a long time and the effect should be pretty noticeable.

One of the effects of amphetamine is confidence, which you seem to be exhibiting!! :D:D:D
 
Man if you leave the time release intact 15mg is not gonna be very much. That's like 2mg per hour. I would either split a 30mg time release and take half at like 4pm and half around 10. WHat i would recommend, though, is crush up a 30mg one with mortar and pestle till it is a powder. Then dose about a third of that every 5 hours. Since you weight so little that should get you veryyyyyy concentrated. YOu could snort it if you want, but i would just eat the powder.

I doubt it tbh. I've never had any trouble in school - 3.9 gpa currently. I didn't feel that much concentration difference, just more alert and ready to go with the test more than anything. While I feel confident in my score today, I also felt pretty confident in my score last december (when I was completely sober). I still feel more alert and 'pumped' than usual, but on a normal day if I felt like this I wouldn't think anything of it.

In school I have no problems taking notes or paying attention. I usually grasp concepts way before most other people (except in lit - I always get B's because it's so subjective). I took it today because my big friend said it worked wonders for his concentration and I knew one try couldn't hurt.

I should mention I have no tolerance and I'm undoubtedly a lightweight (5'7", 115 lbs). I scored 630/670/640 (1300 or 1940) last time, and I feel like I may have raised the score 100 points or so this time, not just because of the adderall, but also because it's my second time taking it, so it's not all new.

Anyway, don't be worried about freaking out after taking it. It's really not very noticeable. Just be careful not to be too figety or talk too fast - I've been tapping my feet all day long and I noticed I speak more quickly than normal.

Good luck though, just remember it's not an 'intense' trip at all and you probably wont feel very different. I think if I had taken as little as you're talking about taking, I wouldn't have felt any different at all.
