Today got my suboxone for the first time. I am hoping to use this in very small amounts to help with the pain in my foot after my doc decided to stop my hydro script. Before this I was taking 20-30mg hydro a day for about 3 months. It has been 6 weeks since I last had any hydro. Never have done any other opiates. Took .5mg bupe under my tongue about 80min ago. No pain relief yet and don't feel anything really. Should I take more yet? I kept the tiny little piece under my tongue for 20min and did not swallow so I think I did that correctly. I just don't want to take too much and have a puke fest.

it takes about 2 hrs for suboxone to kick in.. And also if you've been on full atagonists it can make you sick, me i dont get sick.. But I will say that it usually doesnt work until the 2nd day, in my experience

It has been 6 weeks since I had any hydro so I don't think that will be an issue at all. I just redosed another .5mg at the 2 hour mark. Hoping that will do the trick as I was really hoping to make these strips last as I am on a tight budget. I just want some pain relief, not looking for a buzz. These were by far the most affordable option.

1mg of bupe is ALOT for an opiate naive person. im surprised you're not sick yet. I wouldnt take anymore for at least 4-5 hours if I were you

Yeah I was surprised that .5mg didn't seem to be helping much after all I had read about this stuff. I really hope adding another .5 doesn't end up being a mistake. I'll know in another hour or so. Even if this 2nd .5 dose doesn't help I am not going to dose again for 24hrs, I would rather deal with my pain than be puking non-stop for 8+hours.

bupe is a longer acting opioid, meaning it takes awhile to kick in (1-2hrs)..now that being said, if you havent touched any hydros or any opiates in several weeks , you should feel the effects from bupe, even at 0.5mg...remember its a partial agonist and you will only "feel" the bupe for a few days , after that you will notice no buzz or highish feeling or pain relief, try taking 1-2mg, sublingually, if u had a significant hydro tolerance than 2mg might be the right shot for you, and you will feel very sedated and high, and pain relieved, but as unique as bupe is, after a few days you won't notice any effect from it. I was a 9 bag a day heroin addict, and got arrested for possession, and did 4 months in jail, when i got out, i switched to subs, it took me 4mg maybe a little less to feel the "opiate" pain killing euphoric effects similiar to any othe ropiate, but that went away within a few days..bupe isnt to good for pain management....my opinion people!!

I'm fairly suprised your doc prescribed you bupre for pain, thats quite odd, I've heard they do that in europe, but in the US, it's mostly prescribed for maintenance, it's a partial agonist, but it also has antogonist properties, that being said, bupre is a unique chemical, less is more when it comes to bupre. When your body metabolizes bupre, it becomes norbupre, which is an agonist, the theory behind taking little amounts, and we're talking micrograms here, is that by taking small amounts there's still open receptors for the norbupre to land on,which is your best chance for pain relief. So if you're not feeling relief from the .5mg, don't take more, take .25mg the next time you dose.

^ Yea, so maybe the OP overshot the initial dose. Temgesic (the brand of buprenorphine used to treat pain in other countries) comes in a 0.2mg dose, so I think the OP should wait a day or so in order for the remaining buprenorphine to be eliminated from their system, and then start back up on it but on 0.2mg (or 0.25mg if that's easier to dose) instead of 0.5mg.

IMO .5mg bupe is a good dose for someone who wants to get high with NO tolerance to opiates.. To get out of withdrawals you'll need more than that.. But since your habit was only like 20-30mgs a day I'd say 1mg should be enough to get you out of withdrawal.. Bupe has very different effects on people who are opiate dependant vs people who aren't.

i live in USA, and my primary doc gave me a bupe patch called BUTRANS, it delivered 5mg of bupe over a 7 day period, in micrograms per hour. it was a joke....

Well the second dose of .5mg did the trick. It was actually borderline too much, got a tad queasy for about an hour but never puked and was fine after that. Did a very good job of eliminating the pain in my foot, took care of about 80% of the pain. As mentioned was not trying to get high nor using it for any kind of opiate withdrawal. It's an odd drug of choice I know for pain management but was cheap and easy to get. My doc did not prescribe me this, I had to go the online route. I am using this in an alternating fashion with lyrica which is prescribed to me by my doc, but costs a fortune and leaves me little to spend on any other medication. So the suboxone is giving me a couple of nights of the week that I don't take lyrica which helps me stretch it out and slow its tolerance build up as well. I am going to be doing 2 nights lyrica,1 night sub, 1 night nothing, repeat. Thanks everyone for your input!

I have know idea how sub would interact with lyrica, if I were you I'd ask my doc about the drug interactions, or at the very least do some extensive research on the subject before juming into a regiment like that, but hey that's my two cents..

Glad to hear it did the job for you. Just be careful with it as bupe is a very potent and powerful drug.
