so im gonna be taking some shrooms for the first time this weekend and ive got a few questions. my biggest concern is how do i know my shrooms are good ones? i know there are a few types of mushrooms that can be lethal when ingested and ive heard that even experienced shroom hunters can make mistakes... especially since im getting them from someone i know on my college campus lol. so are there any tips to make sure its a psilocybin? also just throw out any tips or advice for a first timer. thanks guys!

If you're buying them from someone you know, ask him how they are. He should have eaten some, or at least know someone who has.

psilocybin shrooms have a tendency to turn blue when pinched due to oxidation. this is a pretty good method to confirm that you do in fact have real shrooms, but it doesnt speak much about the potency. eat 2 grams at first, dont go for the full 3.5, then when you feel comfortable finish the 1/8. go on nature walks, but make sure you have a private place to retire to if you so desire

if you've never tripped before, you should rather eat 1g dry (that would be 10g if they're fresh), because mushrooms can smash you pretty good (2.6g of self-grown cubensis gave me a near-death experience followed by ego-loss). also they might be another species than the average Psilocybe Cubensis. Paneolus Cyanenses for example is more potent than cubes. gauge your dose for each batch would be my advise, better be safe than sorry.

other than that, watch your set and setting and have a good experience!

No fuck Dmytry's advice. You're not even experiencing tripping if you only do two grams. I have two college freshmen friends who just did them for their first times this past weekend at 2g's and from what they told me it was just a body high with some weird light stuff in dark areas. So then finishing the last 1.5 would be an even bigger waste.

Believe me, you want your first psy experience to be fulfilling, 3.5gs will be that without being overpowering.

^ what goes for people you know might be different for other folks, you know? there are lots of people who have had really bad freak-outs on shrooms, because they did too much and couldn't handle it. also mushrooms are grown material and vary in potency, and as i said, there are strains which are more potent than the average cubensis.

It really depends on the potency of the shrooms, and the sensitivity of the individual. It's best to start low to avoid negative reactions. Though, going too low can be dysphoric as well. Is say 2 grams, or half an eighth, would be about right for beginners with most shrooms I've eaten.

I wouldn't start with 2gs of any psilocybin mushrooms i haven't ate before, you never know with mushrooms. I would start out with 1-1.5gs of cubes and move up slowly first time, you can always eat more but you cant take them out(unless you puke em up of course). Mushrooms do vary a lot and there are some really weak ones out there, if your getting some really strong cubes i would hate to eat to much first time. Im some what experienced with the really potent cubes i get and 1.75gs still completely destroys me, like borderline about to cart myself into the er even though iv ate them before and know whats going to happen, you cant pay me money to eat a eighth of them at the moment. I know its different for every one but its better to be safe than sorry.

As long as your in a good set and setting you'll be fine, happy tripping.

Quite frankly, starting anything on a "high" dose is not recommended. You can always eat more, but you can't get psilocybin out of your body, and a bad trip is not a good way to start off any drug experience. Start off with 1 gram, wait an hour after ingesting, and then eat another if you feel like you need to. It is true that species vary in strength, but even with several 3 gram doses (done at different times... not 3 gram doses consecutively) out of a single batch of mushrooms (from one mycelium cake), I have had varying trip intensities and effects. Anybody who tells you to chow down your first time is quite lacking in the safety department.
