SO i followed the advice regardig shooting as best I could. Bevel down, needle in pointing towards the body, Pull our and te flesh above the vein turns into some sort of black death buboe.

Anyone like to guess what i did wrong? Missed the vein?

number one you need to tell us what you shot how long ago what it looks like if it
s hot and if it
s growing. number two get a pen and draw a circle around the red lining of the abscess if it's grow beyond that line you have an infection and must seek immediate medical attention, if it doesnt grow youre porably okay but if the pain doesnt go away most definitely seek attention medically, these are not someting to play around with and its very possible that within 10 days you could be on life support in ccu somewhere, theyre no joke.
i always do a 45ish degree angle and use bevel up...i know that's proba not right but it works so much better for me that i wont change my technique...as soon as you see that ploom of blood enter your rig stop moving much and always reregister halfway through your shot, or if it ever starts hurting youre probably missing as veins have ano nerve fibers in them...besides pulling back as soon as you enter and not moving much i cant really porvide you anymore help because you didnt explain your technique very well, anything else feel free to ask as this is not a simple matter that will resolve itself more than likely....

abscess are dangrous. It means your arm is infected, and yes amputation is possible if it starts to spread and get worse. Don't risk harm to yourself by not going to the doctor. An Acorn sized abscess is pretty big man.

okguys thanks for all the support. It's been a dumb night here, I've been binging on benzos which is probably why i decided on some IV. THe substance I was injecting (oh god the shame) was ethylphenidate. TO make matters worse, i have needles, but the only syringe i have is used for plugging; i didn't want to risk the likelihood of infection using that syringe, so...and here you're gonna think i'm a fucking idiot but bear in mind i've had 140mg diaz and some pregabalin,,,,,i made my own rig outof a hollow biro tube with a needle glued to the end. I sterilised as best I could, but you neednt tell me this was a dumb idea. I did this about 20 mins ago? abscess is going down.

Well its not an abcess yet. That lump you feel is the solution of drugs in a pool under your skin. All you can really do is monitor it and watch for signs of infection. Most likely you will be fine but if it starts looking infected or you have fever then go to a doctor.

ethylphenidate, llike most stimulants causes vasoconstriction, meaning it makes your vein get smaller, so as soon as it touches that vein it's going to cause it to shrink, you porbably just missed some as this happened, thats my best guess and the most likely situation, just be careful stimulants are notorious for this, compounded by the fact it numbs you to some degree and missing shots are a lot harder to tell than say if you missed a shot of heroin for example. good luck

Thanks again guys. I think I'd better wait until I can get my hands on a decent rig and not this ghetto pen tube piece of shit. The abscess thing has almost gone, but i'll keep an eye on it and go to see a doctor if it get worse.

no, no, no. bevel UP!

you need medicaLl attention right away, man. if you don't keep a close eye on it. apply a hot compress to minimise swelling and help the missed shot absorb.

a good thing to do is draw a circle around the area and if it continues to grow and degrade, it's definitely time to seek medical attention.

I'm completely clueless when it comes to IV'ing (or in my case not) drugs. Do the abscesses/fluid build ups still require medical attention if they return to normal after a few minutes? What exactly is the risk here? A bunch of shit just sitting in my flesh doing god knows what damage? It's 4am here, so if I can postpone a doctor''s visit for a few hours that'd be mch more practical. What do they do? give antibiotics? Suppurate the lump?

If the lump goes away in a few minutes, it shouldn't be an abscess.

Your fine right now. Infection is the risk. All you can do is wait it out but im willing to bet you will be fine

Anyone new to injecting should read these threads.

It might not develop into an abscess.(although acorn size seems pretty fuckin big for a missed shot). If it continues to get worse after two days you should prob go to ER. As mentioned...apply heat off and on throughout the day and obv don't shoot up again near that spot.

Please go to the emergency room immediately! You are risking tissue death. From your description it appears you missed the vein and the solution is causing necrosis in your underlying tissue. Not to scare you, but you should honestly read up as much as you can before deciding to inject.

^It's kind of unclear what's going in from the OP's post, since to me it sounded like they were just describing what happened immediately after injecting, which wouldn't be necrosis at that point. It's hard to know without more info whether it's serious or just a missed shot that caused a hematoma. If in doubt it's always wisest to seek medical attention of course, especially if it doesn't quickly improve.

It would be nice is the OP could explain in a bit more detail and give the timing of everything, if there are any other symptoms, if it's worse or better, etc, so that we could better know how to advice them as to whether or not it requires immediate medical attention.

Oh my.. 8(

@OP: keep a very close eye on it and if it gets ANY worse go see a doctor IMMEDIATELY, this is your health we're talking about.
