First time Ritalin (Methylphenidate Hydrocloride) user

I have a pack of 7 x 10mg of these Ritalin tabs, ive never tried them before, i was recommended them to me by a friend who said they should help me as a little 'pick up' without feeling overwhelmed, he alse said they will help me concentrate and focus, something which i have a very serious problem with.

I just wanted to know what is the ideal starting dose? How long until the drug begins to work? (Best taken before, with or after food?) IHow long will effects last roughly (i read that the half life is around 4 hours) How long to wait to see if the meds are wrking and when/if should i redose? I will be using them for work, i start at 07:30am and wake up at 06:00am, when would be the best time to ingest and how much?

I know you dont do pill id's (and i have trawled all the pill id websites with no joy) as i would like to know if the tabs i have are Instant release or extended release etc yet ive drawn a blank

Thye are made by Novartis, the packet reads 'RITALIN 10 (Methylphenidate Hydrocloride) 10mg tabs'

The actual tabs are small round white with a scoreline on one side with A on one side of the scoreline and B on the other side of the score line.
The flip side just has GS printed in it.

Well. I can't really tell you much.
I don't know your tolerance to stimulants.
The contents of your stomach decide when the drug kicks in if you take it orally.

You pretty much answered most of your own questions.

I wouldn't take a new drug and go to work. Also Ritalin is notorious for having more side effects than most other generic prescription stimulants so redosing isn't advised.

If they don't say SR (sustained release) I would assume they are regular release. I am also pretty sure they don't make 10mg SR tablets, only 20mg SR.

Usual starting dose: 5mg (break or cut the tab in half on the score line) (can be taken 1 to 3 times a day but best to not take it too late in the day)
Onset of action: within 20 to 60 minutes of dose; peaks at 2 hours on average (if after 2 hrs you are not feeling it you can redose)
Usual duration of effects: 3 to 6 hours (lingering after-effects may be experienced longer than that)

More effective if taken without food, the usual recommendation is to take it 20-60min before you eat. It can decrease your appetite so make sure you do still eat and stay hydrated.

Do not take Ritalin every day.

I would definitely NOT take this for the first time when you have to work, as you don't yet know how it will affect you. Try it first on a day when you have no responsibilities.

i used to dabble quite abit with Ritalin. i was on holidays and a mate of mine gave me the rest of his ritalin. i took 2 10mg to start of with, and as swimmingdancer said peaking is on average of about two hours. i would not recomend taking ritalin to study. People with ADD or ADHD ect. thier brains are on different wave lengths to someone without these problems. it is essentialy like speed. in a night about a month ago, i ingested 140mg all together (was a big night) and didnt sleepfor about 4 days. my mates though only took 2 10mg each and none of them slepta wink. it might help you study it might not. but dont expect it to

I listened and didn't take it as my first time at work.

I took just 1 x 10mg tab around 2 hours ago and have felt slightly stimulated, clear headed and slightly chatty, im now beginning to feel hungry and tired, im guessin the small dose is wearing off..

Is it safe to consume Oxycodone now/later with no ill effect? Or would it be better to combine the two? But obviously a higher dose of Ritalin for more recreational value?

I have a massive Oxy tolerance where i can ingest 240mg+ and only just feel slightly nice.

You can certainly take oxycodone on the comedown. It is a safe mixture.
