Hi, I hope this hasn't already been answered somewhere. I did a search and didn't see anything. About 2 weeks ago a friend gave me some Vicodin 10s and I really enjoy them and the way they make me feel. My question is, how is the best way to get my own prescription for them? I am assuming a trip to the ER first and then to the doc after but is there some foolproof way? I am sure this is quite naive. Sorry if I sound stupid. I do have severe osteoarthritis in both knees but my doc has never asked me if I needed a pain med. They give me cortisone shots in my knees every few months. I am wondering about say back pain maybe? This wouldn't actually be a lie because I do have back pain but what do I say to ensure the prescription? Also, I have taking between 1-3 pills a night. I crush them, put them in my mouth and dissolve in water and swallow. Usually I am high in a few mins. Tonight I took 1 pill and have felt nothing. I then crushed two Xanax and did the same thing and still nothing. Now, about an hour later, I just took my last hydro. Could I really have developed a tolerance that fast?? Thanks so much for any input. I really appreciate this board and everything that I have learned.

It is specifically against the rules to ask for help on obtaining a prescription for something. Please read the rules. That said, if you have a legitimate health issue that requires opioid pain medication, your doctor won't have a problem prescribing it. Just be honest. If you have no reason to have them, you aren't going to get them.
