I think that sounds just fine. Be prepared for some nausea. It doesn't necessarily happen to everyone but I know my first time (ten years ago now) taking one 5mg hydrocodone made me so unbelievably nausous (sp?) that I kept that bottle in my med cabnit for over five years before I ever experimented with opiates again. Now when I have them I'm up to 100 mg a day. *and the thought of how much apap is getting into my liver is quite scary at times and even though I'm in an nice opiate haze I can't slept at night worrying about my liver. silly me 8(
However I much prefer 20-30mg of methadone. Altough the first time I did that I took a 40mg wafer, split it into fours and continued to take three quarters because I didn't feel anything after an hour. I then did some research and found that 40mg of methadone has the ability to kill a non tolerant adult. After that I was sick for two days straight! After that I stayed away from it for two years, then after I had my daughter a friend gave me a few 10mg's that I broke in to two to help with post birthing pain occasionlly.
It has taken me over four years to build a tolerance and mental love for opiates. It's weird how my first experiences made me sick, but I kept going back to try, try again. Maybe because my husband and his brother were pretty bad pharm junkies so I was curious. But now I am on the verdge of really being hooked-experienced w/d's a few times and they keep getting worse because my usages keeps getting bigger or longer or both. I've found it helps me although I am perfectly aware how these benifts are short lived once you pick up an every day habit.
Why did I write all this? Maybe because I know now that addiction and dependence is a loooong slow road sometimes it can creep up on you and if you like your life the way it is, and these first opiates do make you sick, stay away instead of trying and trying again until you have built your love for the med.:D
taking them with some food or milk might help the nausea but I always take my meds on an empty stomach because you get more of the med in your system and not absorbed by food.
By the way, this may have better luck in the Basic Drug Forum
