First time oral morphine sulfate 100mg?

Hey guys,

Today I was given by a friend one morphine sulfate tablet.
It's grey coloured, 100mg and is extended release.

I've never done morphine or any kind of opiate before.
The only drugs I've done is just weed and ecstasy.

I'm just wondering how is the best way to take this tablet and what should I expect?

I was thinking about just swallowing it as I really don't like the idea of plugging it and there is no way I would use a needle.

Will 100mg be ok for me? Should I crush it up and parachute it? How long will it last?

Any advice would be great thanks :)
 
Bro seriously, and I am probably going to get flamed here, but what I WOULD DO (if I was opiate niave but had the knowledge I have now from extensive experience and know how of practical opiate use), I would use it as prescribed. Not crush it, not reduce the amount, take it as is and you should be in for a noddy ass high. It has shit oral BA so you are not really getting 100mg. Maybe 30mg.

Now that was what I would do (and I am an idiot, a big one at that). What YOU should do, is probably take 50mg first in ER fashion, see how it affects you, and if you like it, get some more and try a higher dose a week or so later.
 
100mg MST had me nodding off dangerously in the slow lane on the M4. Don't do drugs and drive!
 
I don't know how long the time release works for but 100mg would be way too much for your first time if it was instant release.
I would recommend cutting it into quarters, then powdering a quarter and snorting half the powder, then maybe the other half in 20 mins or so if you don't feel it.

Bear in mind that opiates make lots of people feel sick the first time they use them, and you may be disappointed by the effects. My girlfriend felt nothing from 10mg oxycodone (roughly equivalent to 15mg oral morphine) but was throwing up with 20mg (equiv. 30mg oral morphine). Also keep some antihistamines on hand as you will likely feel flushed and itch like hell. Sounds great doesn't it?
 
What he said^ Use a quarter. 100mg morphine is like 10 Hydrocodone 10mg pills, which is enough to bring a moderate IV Heroin user out of withdrawal... meaning it's a lot.

100mg morphine ER is way too much for an opiate naive user!

Edit-You might even consider quartering it, then crushing 1 quarter (25mg) and insufflating half of that. That will probably give you an effect that might be enough. (12.5mg)
 
Don't snort morphine...especially the ones with the rubbery coat and waxy matrix. 8)

You get about 10% bioavailability snorting morphine as opposed to the 30% you get swallowing it...

Hell, if anything, quarter it and swallow it...

Not to mention, with it being ER, most of it will probably not absorb properly...

1/4 will be like taking 2.5 norcos spread out over about 8 hours (the wax matrix is present throughout, so some of the time release will still be effective).
 
Good point I had originally thought it was IR, then edited my post to say ER without thinking it through. If it is ER then don't snort it
 
My very first time ever on any opiate was MS Contins 30mg, and I had two of them for pain of broken bones in my face and was fine so....it just made everything woozy, I played heaps of videogames not knowing why this drug made me feel so great (euphoria) and I nodded for a bit before I slept, woke up and took another two...AS PRESCRIBED etc.

Fuck, when I started to CWE Codiene and below 300mg, it hit me 100X more so...morphine never sort of BURST into a euphoria, it is a slow ride and I know this doesn't sound science proof, but I can tell you that it is the truth. Trust me dude 1/4 ain't gonna do shitttt. At least half.
 
Just want to let you know if you dont already, that morphine has a higher bioavailability insufflated compared to oral by i think 2x
 
Intranasal morphine has a bioavailability of around 10%; whereas, oral morphine has a bioavailability of about 30%. If you mix your morphine (and this will only work well with MS:IR) in water and chitosan, it will increase bioavailability, but that's a lot of work making a nasal spray. Especially for someone that's never fucked with it before.

Please get me a source, just because that is really hard to believe (I thought it was 60% intranasally bio). Not because its coming from you, but because my own experiences have told me other wise...Ive snorted lots of morphine before likfe for example a 30mg morphine and i doubt 3mg were actually felt cuz i definitely felt it, plus i compared to the weak effects of oral administration. But then there is the argument of everything you snort goes down your throat...I dont know man but id appreciate a source just cuz this info is pretty interesting thanks

"Morphine administered nasally to humans as a simple solution is only absorbed to a limited degree, with a bioavailability of the order of 10% compared with intravenous administration. This article describes the development of novel nasal morphine formulations based on chitosan, which, in the sheep model, provide a highly increased absorption with a 5- to 6-fold increase in bioavailability over simple morphine solutions. The chitosan-morphine nasal formulations have been tested in healthy volunteers in comparison with a slow i.v. infusion (over 30 min) of morphine. The results show that the nasal formulation was rapidly absorbed with a T(max) of 15 min or less and a bioavailability of nearly 60%. The shape of the plasma profile for nasal delivery of the chitosan-morphine formulation was similar to the one obtained for the slow i.v. administration of morphine. Furthermore, the metabolite profile obtained after the nasal administration of the chitosan-morphine nasal formulation was essentially identical to the one obtained for morphine administered by the intravenous route. The levels of both morphine-6-glucuronide and morphine-3-glucuronide were only about 25% of that found after oral administration of morphine. It is concluded that a properly designed nasal morphine formulation (such as one with chitosan) can result in a non-injectable opioid product capable of offering patients rapid and efficient pain relief."

but still it can't be anywhere near 10% intranasal man lol
 
its more like 10-15% nasal, 30% oral. its true man. its like common knowledge hahah
 
Bro just because of morphines shitty oral bio and plus the fact that your pill is extended release, id say even that 100mg pill wont be too much for a first time.
What you will really be getting is about 30mg of morphone being slowy released which is not much.
Swallow the whole pill, youl get a nice high, not too strong not too weak.

Yeah but dont you understand it wont really be 100mg since only 30% is absorbed orally. Plus its extended release.
What he really feels is about 30mg only. Use your head man, dont just say random shit...

I dont think it is also...I once snorted 3, 15mg morphine pills and i got pretty high. Now if it had a bioavailability of 10% only i doubt i would of gotten high...
 
There's professional resources you can find with information on this.

Also, the largest dose they tend to give IV is 10mg...let that sink it...
