First Time Opiate Use

LOL, the shadow people...

my roomate in rehab was a meth guy, and he told me about one of the first few times he tried it... he took a bunch of really big successive hits and was expecting some sort of immediate rush like i guess w/ crack (??) or something. i remember him talking about how 2 days later he was curled up in his room hiding from the "shadow people." ha, sorry, just made me laugh thinking about that

Hi all, I'm a first time poster on this site but I feel compelled to reply to this guy's post because no-one has actually answered his question about what an opiate 'high' is supposed to feel like. As an opiate addict of the last 15 years I feel fairly qualified to answer this in an honest and informed way. Now I've no experience of the opioid analgesics like oxycontin or vicodin etc. - just your standard heroin, codeine, morphine and methadone, but in my experience all opiates have fairly similar effects, just with varying degrees of intensity. However, these effects vary depending upon tolerance. To a novice user, a relatively small dose can have a significant debilitating effect - often accompanied by a large amount of nausea. The strange thing is that the nausea, like everything else on opiates, is quite pleasant. Being sick on smack isn't the usual heaving, retching degrading, hugging the toilet bowl affair, more like a sensual emptying of the stomach contents with an amazing sense of release afterwards. Nausea aside, it's like being wrapped in a warm blanket where you cannot move and have no desire to move - dropping in and out of consciousness (gouching), eyes like pinholes. All extraneous hassles and complications in life are completely dissolved leaving you riding on a wave of extreme lethargy. Paradoxically it is often quite hard to get to sleep properly, particularly when your tolerance has increased a little. At this stage, the paralysing effects disappear and it is more like speed, but without any of the twitchiness or paranoia associated with amphetamines. You can actually stay awake all night doing mundane tasks such as washing up and enjoy it. This seems to depend upon personality though - some people experience a 'speedy effect' while others nod off at every opportunity. Get the dose right though and you can feel like superman. Stenuous activity can feel like no effort at all. It takes over your whole body - it stops you sweating, getting out of breath, getting tired, makes you more talkative, more confident etc. Unfortunately these positive effects don't last more than a couple of years max. Gradually it all just fades away and you need it just to feel 'normal'. There seems to be three distinct stages: 1) It gets you so fucked you think 'how can anyone live a normal life doing this stuff?' You can't imagine getting addicted because it's so powerful. 2) You get used to its effects and feel it makes all experiences seem better - even boring, mundane ones. Takes away lifes little hassles and throws them all away. 3) You need it to be able to function at all - you can't imagine life without it. So apologies for the length, but please be aware what you may be getting into - it gets so integrated into your everyday life that it's incredibly hard to go back to 'normal'. Good Luck...................................

Stay the FUCK away from opiates. At best you get a great high. At worst you fuck your shit up and end up in rehab, jail, or dead. Not a great gamble.

Snort them instead...much more euphoric and will get you that nice high. Never got high off eating them until I started snorting them....but after that I could eat some and get a nice buzz. I know alc is supposed to be a no no...but a couple beers and a hydro or two mix nicely....

I'd advice against putting a bunch of APAP up your nose - Also if bioavailability is at all like oxycodone (can't be assed checking and we don't have hydrocod over here) then chances are you're better off taking it orally anyway efficiency wise.

If you're going to end up taking more than 2000mg of APAP if right in assuming thats american for paracetamol lol, then cold water extract the hydrocod out and filter the APAP which is simple as all hell - that shit is not good for liver in high doses. 4000mg as a single dose of apap in some people can cause liver damage.

Start small - work up until you find whats right for you. I made the mistake of thinking my mate would require the same dose as what I had tried from first time oxycodone experience.. turns out he's naturally sensitive and I'm naturally tolerant.

Told him to parachute 20mg of contin powder and snort 10mg after half an hour to give it a boost - I did the same but with 30mg oral and 10mg snorted. I was walking around and doing shit about the house with a good buzz on, and he was couch locked. No harm done - but he was sensitive to nausea and got a bit more smashed then intended. Lesson learned - everyone is different.

A. I don't recall the first vic or perc but the first oxy use was really intense (20 was probably too much for a first time). I snorted it, but seriously would NOT snort anything with APAP or other added drugs in it! I was nauseous and just laid on the floor for a long time and itched. The high was kind of like floating for me. I also had a good friend there because I'm paranoid, and I figured if I was going to do it I wanted someone there "just in case".

Personally, opiates are addictive, but I have used them off and on for 10 years. Moderation is key for me, and I have had no serious problems. I just know I love the high, and I don't do it often lest I loose myself in the addiction.

B. No idea what you can expect from your dentist.

C. I think 10-15mg oxy is a good place to start. I can't tell you with the others, and I don't want to make suggestions I'm uncertain about.

D. DON'T snort vics or percs! I know that was said a lot but all that Tylenol and crap can be damaging. I suggest having someone else there you can trust, "just in case". =D

I don't know, you already do meth so you're not exactly a drug virgin. There's so much more to life than drugs yet I like most people here are obsessed with them. I think opiates are better for you than methamphetamine. Just try a small dose of whatever opiate you choose, and hopefully somewhere along the line you'll find something you like better than drugs. But if you're going to do drugs opiates in my opinion are a much better drug than most. Just educate yourself and moderate as much as possible.

all I will say - and it's probably obvious - swallow - not a fast hit, but longer lasting high

If you're end up using codeine/ paracetomol - extract paracetomol - see the CWE thread, reduces liver damage

brilliant advice

Hydrocodone is a prodrug it's active metabolite is hydromorphone (Diluadid)...

So hence snorting is generally a complete waste they work just fine Orally.

And to OP, recreational use of opiates is not the brightest idea. Many of us here are or were opiate addicts in the past and it's one hellofa ride that is not any fun at all.

Maybe in the beginning, but that fun quickly fades to other issues that not one person should have to experience in life.

Opiate will grab the strongest people by their balls with vice grips and twist and twist and twist, while you sit there thinking that you're having a grand 'ol time....
By the time you realize what is actually going on in your addiction to opiates (I.E. What you're doing to your family, your friends and other loved ones... and even yourself......) It's way to late to just bounce out of it....

Coming out of an opiate addiction, you're left with a dull sense of life no energy extreme withdrawls.

The issue with the withdrawls isn't the Acute withdrawls (What you probably know of, the kicking puking pain and all that jazz) it's the PAWS (Post acute)... Extreme depression, complete insomnia, total lack of energy and what feels like could be a mental handicap lol.

Opiates are no fun, if you play the game with drugs the come back twice as hard when you lose... And that holds true to opiates more than anything IMO -- Cocaine too....

I was bored so I thought I'd hit bluelight and I found this old thread so I figured I'd post an update for the hell of it. I never did try opiates again for recreational purposes. However I was working on a semi when it slipped off the stands and crushed my hand under it. Completely ruined it, like my fingers were actually hanging off my hand split my hand open, crushed my finger bones. I'm all better now after two reconstructive surgeries. They have me percocet 5's percocet 10's and dilaudid 2mg, and I'm happy to say I have discovered opiates are not my D.O.C. Even when they iv'd me with them. All I ever did was sleep and itch. However they gave me iv versed a and just wow that shit is awesome. Just thought I'd update so everyone would know. That and I'm bored mainly the second one though

Oxycodone is what I like. Percosets and Roxie's are my fave. Used to do a lot of OxyContin. Hydrocodone highs are totally different than Oxycodone like Percs n Roxie's. It is cleaner feeling, I get bad nausea with Hydrocodone, but with perks I don't even notice it sometimes. I get amped up on Percs too, it's like an upper to Me.

I was an opiate addict for a couple yrs, 80mg a day of Oxycontin, but I also got fed up and cold turkeyed myself with no medicine or help. But since I don't drink or smoke, and every other drug just kind of sucks I have to get a lil something now and then. So yes, watch yourself, but self control is something that we need in every part of our lives, not just drugs.

Hey guys,

Since this thread was started we've changed our policy a little (see "State of BDD" sticky at the top of the forum) and we try to avoid lengthy discussions and bumping old threads - if you are bored and fancy chatting about drugs I suggest you check out Drug Culture or the regional forums :)

Closed, pm me with any queries.
