First time Methadone user

I have been offered 50x5mg
methadone pilswhich im intruiged to try, ye ive never done Methadone before and would like it to be a safe and enjoyable experience.

I know Methadone is used in the treatment for Heroin addiction, although i have never tried Heroin i have tried other Opiates and have enjoyed them very much, ive had a good look at the conversion chart and the comparative strengths of different opiates.

Btw i will not be IV'ing i will be taking orally, so is there any tips for oral consumption? Eat on an empty stomach? chew up the talet? Take it sublingually and let it desolve under my tounge?

What sort of effects should i expect? Ive tried Oxycontin (OC) Tramadol, Morphine, Codeine, Dihyrocodeine and poppy tea which ive all found enjoyable, so would i find the methadone enjoyable?

Also will it interact with poppy tea were i to have a cup a planned this evening?

I have a decent tolerance to Oxy 80-160mg in one go does me nice so how much Methadon would suit me?

I wouldn't take it with poppy tea, take them separately...methadone takes a long, long time to kick in (sometimes up to two hours) and lasts a long while.

Typically the "discs" are dissolved in water and drank orally.

You'll most likely find what you seek with the methadone, however be VERY careful with dosing, as it has an extremely long half-life, and onset time (up to 2-3 hours often).

Don't mix substances your first go-around. Methadone is notorious for killing people the same way fentanyl is - it's often too powerful. Be VERY careful, especially with benzos (which if I recall you enjoy a bit ). [/quote]

I would start at 25mg tops, and see where that goes. Even that may be a little high to start, considering that it reacts very differently between users. Don't re-dose for at least 24 hours - the drug will still be inside you though! Don't forget that and take 40mg - your actual dose would be over 50mg, see where that could go wrong? It'll also prevent you from getting a decent idea as to what your initial dose should be. I suppose you could try to calculate it, but that would be cumbersome and likely ineffective / inaccurate.

Good luck and be safe! 250mg of Methadone is quite a lot; easily enough to die from over doing it with.

Many thanks for the invaluable and possibly life saving info you have provided me with the above advice.

So you recommend no Benzos? which will be hard as i ve gone benzos running through my veins 99%^ of the time.I also love Benzos and have just acquired Loprazolam which i have ever tried before.

I also have been drinking a lot of poppy pod tea recently and also eating the remainder of the popp mixed up in milkshakes and in ice cream etc..

So my guess is there is a lot of Opiates already in my system which will no doubt increase my risk of OD.

^ If you have a benzo tolerance then combining methadone with benzos is not as dangerous as it would be for a benzo naive person, but you would want to reduce your dose and definitely start low with the methadone. They are synergistic in terms of sedation/respiratory depression and it is very easy to overdose even for experienced users, and methadone's long half life means the risk is present for a long time. iI's also easy to up your dose with methadone thinking it's not strong enough when actually it is just that methadone often doesn't give a "high" as such, and also takes a long time to kick in.

If you are physically dependent on benzos then you don't want to just not take any for a day as this is also dangerous as I am sure you are aware, but do be very careful! I would not try a new benzo with methadone..

You are correct that having opiates in your system increases your risk of overdose, so best to wait for a bit.

OP: Given your history with benzo use (well, current, you know what I mean ) I would dose lower than usual (maybe 50% to start) - but only if you MUST take any: Diazepam has a very long half-life - there should still be plenty in your system from previous days to make up for skipping doses as you start.

Like effie said - this is going to be a dangerous dance, but one you can pull off with extra caution. You don't want to be taking benzos (ideally), but if it would cause issues in its own right to abruptly stop, a significantly lessened dose would be very wise.

^ Yeah, I usually try to go with the 50% reduction rule if I ever do combine two CNS depressants. It is complicated if there is physical dependence at play, but overdose is a very real risk too!

Ive decided Methadone is not for me by the sounds of things... (Im more of a Benzo-Oxy) type person.

Ive found a friend who's mad for the Methadone so im gonna give it to him.

Anymore imput/advice on the Loprazolam? I only have 14 x 1mg tabs

Yeah I wouldn't take the methadone. You barely feel anything from it and also you're going to boost your opiate tolerance so high that other opiates won't work as well later on.

Are your lorazepam sublingual for under the tongue? I'd try one or two. If you have tolerance you may need to take more. what benzos are you use to and what mg? I can tell you the conversion for your ativan.

^OP isn't asking about Ativan; he's asking about Loprazolam, not Lorazepam.
