First time LSD trip

I'm 15 years old and I might do LSD this weekend.
I'm not concerned about the actual trip as I'm pretty confident that I'll be fine (safe environment, trusted friend, etc). I have plenty of experience with weed & I've also tried DXM a couple times. I've heard that the brain doesn't fully develop until your 20's..
Do you think taking LSD at such a young age could negatively effect my brain development?

Have you finish all your homework? What are your grades like? Are you a straight A student or the dumb arse at the back of the classroom who disrupts the rest of the class because you have just given up? If you have you shit together and you aren't about to throw your future away and join the phish tour then you should be fine.

it has the potential but we cant give you a for sure answer, i started using lsd heavily when i was 17 and i did notice itll make me think about things more, it could also make you think about things a "normal" 15 year old wouldnt and that could be uncomfortable for some.

everyones different so we'd never know, if your on top of all of your priorities and your mentally strong chances are youd be fine but still never know psychedelics are unpredictable at times.

I don't think anyone can tell you conclusively if your brain development will be negatively effected. But by taking a drug (any drug) you are increasing risk in the broadest sense, not just concerning brain development. I'm sure that there are people who took LSD at age 15 and turned out fine. It would be safest though to wait until a later age, but then again it would be much safer still not to do any drugs ever, not even alcohol or caffeine. Ultimately it's your life and your responsibility. I personally don't believe in striving for a life free of any risk, but rather try to assess any potentially harmful situation in advance and make an educated decision about the risks I'm willing to take, and how to reduce those risks as much as possible.

i think if someone hasnt searched the forums before starting a thread then they should be advised by default to wait before tripping.
this opens up the same old debate....

lsd can wait man. seriously.

I've already done hours of research into LSD as well as read many different peoples experiences.. and yes, I've got my shit together.

dont get me wrong, im not saying you are reckless or anything, im sure youre a nice responsible person thats read a lot. however, there are more threads like this out there, with questions quite similar to yours, with pertienet and varied answers, which im sure you found... so really, i feel when people start threads like this it is more to get approval than anything else, feel confident they are making the right step.
this is where i feel the catch is.

anyway, i dont think anyone can tell for sure when the brain "stops" developing, or what that statement really means - what is brain development actually

I'm not looking for opinions as to whether or not i should take acid, I'm merely asking if taking it would effect me in different and possibly
negative ways because of my relatively young age and inexperience..

Personally I don't think hours of research is enough for something like your first psychedelic experience. I spent nearly 2 years researching psychedelics online before my first ever trip, and even then I was not prepared (it was a wonderful experience, don't get me wrong, I simply expected something very different). Though, I don't think one can ever truly be fully prepared :)

I don't think taking psychedelics is going to influence your development in any negative way, but psychedelics can have negative psychological impacts when taken carelessly or with too much stress on your mind. When you're going through puberty, learning and experiencing many new things, have the pressures of school and growing up on your shoulders - I don't think that's going to be conductive to a psychedelic experience.

I think it's entirely unnecessary too, at that age the things you're experiencing are a trip in themselves, you should appreciate them while they're there, and don't spoil the psychedelic experience for yourself early when there's plenty of other new experiences more suitable at this time in your life.

That said, it wouldn't be a bad thing to trip at your age or situation, but my first trip was 17, I'm currently 19, and even now I feel like I've not quite reached the maturity to fully appreciate many of the aspects of psychedelics. In hindsight I'd have certainly at least waited until 18-19 rather than tripping at 17. Everyone is different though, and I must emphasise the importance of making your own choice - if you have doubts, don't do it, but if you feel it is the right time, don't feel put off.

Make sure you check out the First Time LSD Subthread :) (once you've had a chance to reply, I'll merge this thread with that one)

If you decide to trip, I hope your first trip is wonderful and awe-inspiring.

My first experience with LSD was also at 15. If you are 100% comfortable in your own skin and set/setting, you will be fine and have an amazing time.

Just start with a small dose, and don't go crazy with it. Respect it, and it shall respect you.

Leave it a few more years...most likely if you enjoy it you have more of a chance you will abuse it at a younger age...yes lsd is great but reading and doing research wont come close to the experience itself....

I would have to agree with the post above .. Should wait and get the full experience :) It's almost like a life changing

i used LSD for the first time when i was 15. i had an awesome time with one of my best friends, and i really di have a better understanding of myself after that. But, most people aren't prepared for an experience thats so immersive at that young of an age. if you truly are a bright individual, and have a level head on your shoulders, you should be just fine. I'm not exactly a scientist, but I'm not bad at science either, and i don't believe LSD will cause any significant impairment in brain development. i used LSD heavily throughout high school, and i while it didn't much damage, i really wish i hadn't. i was trying to use a drug recreationally that really isn't meant for recreation. thats one question you should ask yourself: am i taking this for shits and giggles, or am i trying to achieve something that's deeper? I was able to get LSD very cheaply the last two years of high school. I hardly ever shared it with my classmates, as i felt most just weren't ready to "see the truth" as i like to say. I graduated high school a year ago, but not much has changed; some people i go to college with still don't seem prepared to see the deeper meaning.

^This^

I first tripped at 16 but like Busty wrote I had my shit together, got excellent grades, and I was mature for my age but most of my friends and peers were not. I took a very large dose and wasn't in the best environment but looking back I wouldn't do it differently. I only tripped once and unless you count psychedelic experiences from herb I didn't trip again on a psychedelic until I was 18 and took mushrooms for the first time.

IME no amount of reading can prepare you for a psychedelic experience or trying a new psychedelic drug out. I first took mushrooms at 18 and I was glad I took them then and in the environment I did. Yes I'd researched them but no amount of research about mushrooms or taking them with a buddy who had tripped on them in varying doses from small ones to large ones actually told me what taking mushrooms was really like since I had to experience them for myself.

Yes you could be effected by acid; but that's what LSD does it can change your entire perspective on things such as reality, philosophy, etc., and you may have a spiritual/religious experience.

Also make sure that if/when you take acid that you're actually getting real LSD and not some research chem as RC's are passed off as LSD these days.
