First time LSD Q's

Posted this in one of the big merged threads the other day but didnt seem to get picked up so thought id do an individual post if ok by mods..

I'm planning on trying lsd next weekend for the first time. I've had cannabis, mdma, amphetamines, cocaine but no psychedelics before...so I have no idea what to expect. I've hallucinated (audio and closed eye visuals) from injested cannabis but from what I've heard this will have been quite mild compared to lsd visuals. I'm wanting to start very very small so Im having half a tab of reportedly 'quite weak' acid. I understand that each tabs dose may be different but this is one from the same batch so I'm hoping it's around the same. Im also debating about mixing mdma with lsd but im in two minds as if its good mdma it could make me more relaxed, open to the experience and take the edge off the comeup..but if (as per usual) its got other additions and is shit it could potentially make me ill and ruin the experience.

Anyway what Im really asking for and what I've stuggled to find an exact description of on here is what lsd actually feels like..especially on the come up. I know you trip/have strange thoughts etc but what does your mind feel like the moment it starts to kick in? Is the comeup intense and hardhitting or a gradual shift in consciousness? And do you get the heavy, stoned, hazy feeling you get with high dose cannabis or the relatively clear headed..but altered mental status of mdma? I want to be prepared as possible as im always quite anxious trying new drugs and its usually the comeup that freaks me out if im not prepared for how it will feel...do you feel more dissassociated or high? Also what can I expect from such a low dose? I know it dosent seem like much but Id much rather take too little and take more later than take way too much and be fucked!..what im hoping for at that dosage is mild visuals/altered consciousness with euphoria and a general taster of what the drug feels like..without losing complete grip on reality just yet!

Thanks

that's a tough one-

for me it's the body feeling that hits first. I pretty consistently get what I like to call "electric shivers" running down my legs and body. It's not uncomfortable- just unusual.

the beginnings of visuals in my experience is just an amplification of colors. different acid has slight variations in the visuals ranging from a glittery shimmering to everything to a morphing or melting of objects around you.

the first time I did acid I was astounded how your entire perception is changed. nothign you look at is the same as you see it every day- This is where I think acid truly can make us all kids again. have fun exploring things that you have thought boring and ordinary...

AAAAAAAANNNNNNDDDDDDD the mental aspect

all your thoughts become connected and time becomes very distorted.

during strong acid trips I've found myself saying an ordinary word (watch, time, phone, call) and my mind explodes with different meanings for that word and other words that relate to it...

because of the connectivity of your thoughts it's easy to let a single negative thought spiral out of control- this is why i always like to trip with someone else so I can actually say what I'm thinking if things get negative and then by saying the bad thoughts outloud I remember how silly they are and what a blast I'm having

acid's wonderful

happy tripping

It's really best not to use MDMA right away in combination with psychedelics. First try tripping without anything else to keep it clear. Something like MDMA gives you a positive attitude, sure, but it also complicates the experience and messes you up in another way, same goes for added cannabis. If you are not OK to trip without these other drugs that's a sign that you shouldn't do it at all.

^I agree to some extent, but it would be hard to imagine not smoking weed even a single time over the course of a day tripping. It seems usually a bit after the peak, I'll get a sudden urge to eat some fruit and vape a bowl-- just kind of rejuvenates and relaxes you for the rest of the experience. I wouldn't put cannabis in the same category as MDMA by any means. MDMA is a really powerful synthetic empathogen, while cannabis is a friendly flower that human beings have cultivated for like 10,000 years-- different vibes all around, IMO. :)

Thanks for the replies. I think I'll try it on its own for the first time. I don't generally smoke cannabis regularly anyway so I can definately do without..and I cant be arsed with an MDMA comedown. I'm definately anxious aboyt trying it..and I know people say if you're anxious don't do it etc..but how can someone not be a little bit anxious about trying something that will completely alter their perception of reality for at least 12 hours. More than anything Im excited and I think that outweighs the nervousness :) My only reservation is the duration..I can definately handle freaking out..I know it's not in the same league but smoking/injesting too much cannabis can have horrific effects but the only way I seem to stay ok is with the premise that it'll wear off soon..with lsd it would be like..oh well only another 10 HOURS to go! ..but I'm sure I'll be fine if I start with a nice low dose.

Apprehensive anxiety is natural I think, the only way it wouldn't exist is when you surrender yourself completely to it. Just convert the anxiety into respect and not fear and it will be fine.

You're right Roger, it's not that plain and simple... if you're a hardcore weed smoker then it becomes your baseline to be stoned. Doing it especially a while after the peak seems pretty obvious.
The common ground between cannabis, MDMA and a lot of other dope is that if you do it in the first half of your LSD trip it can suddenly change the character dramatically and make it overwhelming. Cannabis is known for adding a substantial amount of visuals, but if the intensity is not expected nor welcome at that time thats not a good thing. The first time with acid you are by definition inexperienced making it impossible to judge the outcome. Which is the principle I was aiming at.

^Oh, I didn't realise this was a thread about first-time LSD-- when I read that. I was just browsing through tabs and reading. :D

<-----stoned %)

But yah in that case I definitely agree that a first-time LSD experience shouldn't be clouded by any other substances, ideally. :) I know I was puffing trees like a chimney on my first LSD trip, though-- of course, I love weed, under pretty much any circumstances-- that's just my personality though.

on half a tab of weak blotter your really only going to feel what amounts to a comeup that never goes anywhere farther... some mild apprehensive anxiety....

I wouldn't expect visuals.

Maybe a little bit more awake for the next 8 hours...

Assuming your in a good mindset and setting for the experience, i feel that a pretty moderate dose would be the best "i ate too much" experience of your life....

I ate 1.5 epically good blotters for my first time.... I was out of my mind and i loved it. It changed my life for the better. I still felt i could have handled more and just bit the bullet and done 2.

I am not going to try and go into what the experience is like, words can never do it justice. The experience goes beyond what our language can describe in any way that will ever live up to it.

You just have to get up the desire to see it first hand, and then follow through and eat some psychedelics....

The experience can be powerful and life changing in the best of ways.

Just let go, stop trying to fight what your feeling and going through and embrace it. Stop worrying about your random drama, work, school, your very sanity and just let go.
