First time IV user. Couple of questions.

Hey all! Long time reader, first time poster. I have read a few "guides" as well as some topics on bluelight about IVing but I still have a couple of questions if I could.

First off, I am an experienced opiate user and I would really appreciate if you held off on the whole "just don't it" thing. I appreciate your concern and I understand the risks but my mind has even made up. I'm going to do it, so I'd like to know how to do is safely.

I've tested the gear I have, and most places say that I should use half the amount I would sniffed, correct? The stuff I have is like a hard tanish/white rock. As far as my knowledge goes, I should fill my rig (1cc so I don't use too much) with bottled water, put the dope on a spoon, mix with the water and heat till it bubbles and dissolves. Here's where my question comes. I've read that q-tips make a good cotton filter but I just don't really understand how the filtering process works. Do I just put the head of the qtip in the spoon? Does it just soak it all up? Or do I poke the needle into the qtip and just draw it through that? Some more info on this process would be great as I feel it's pretty important.

My final question is, does it matter where I shoot it? I was thinking my foot as I have very prominent veins there and would like the use of both my hands. Does it impact the "rush" at all?

Any help from experienced users would be greatly appreciated! Thanks :)

Don't heat anything you are planning on injecting, just mix it with room temp water. Veins on the arm are the easiest to use, after you tie off use your fingers to feel for veins. People go by sight and this is a big mistake, and yes you draw through the cotton to filter out particles you don't want to end up in your blood.

I agree about feeling for veins vs. using sight. I am heavily tattooed so I have to feel for my veins and well I probably use better technique now that I only feel for veins for the most part.

Put the dope in the water and the add the filter.

As far as the filter, if you choose to use a q tip just rip off the end and wet it with some water before putting it in the spoon/cooker. A micron filter is better but I suppose you have already made your choice. If it makes you feel any better I have always used q tips.

I would really recommend not shooting in your feet, especially your first time. It is not a very safe place to inject, very difficult, and rather painful. It is also difficult to register and to hold the rig steady, so learning how to IV using your foot is just a horrible idea in my opinion. It sounds like a bad time. So please do not shoot in your foot just because you do not want anyone to know.

If you do shoot up people in your life will most likely find out. Some people are easier to fool and even if the evidence is there some people will want to believe you but track marks come along with the territory. The best way to not have tracks is to use good technique and well shooting in the safest veins is the smartest way to go.

Your arms are the safest place. Hands are an ok place in my opinion but as far as the "rush" the arms is the best.

I would recommend you are very careful with your first shot. Do a test shot which is less than you think you need and stop half way through and wait until you feel it as you may not need more.

I am not going to get into the basics of tying off and finding a vein as that is already up here. I do recommend reading the guides on here and there is also one online called "getting off right" that I think is rather good.

I am not going to say do not do it because it is your choice but it is not something that you will likely do just once. I think you already know the risks but this is basically like going from drinking a beer to drinking a pint of liquor in one gulp.

Hey, thanks a lot for the reply! As for shooting in the foot, it's not because I'm trying to hide track marks, it's because I feel like I might be too jarring if I can only use one hand. Especially when pulling the plunger back to register. I'll try my arm though, if it's really not a good idea.

So for the qtip thing, basically I cut off the top, wet it and drop it in and does it all get soaked up or do I need to stick the needle in and draw before it gets soaked up? I would practice this part but I only have one rig, I don't want it to get clogged or something stupid.

Thanks again!

Edit: I didn't mention it but I also will be using alcohol swabs on the injection site.

hey man iv beenshooting for quite some time and i agree with then. do not use foot cause those veins roll easily. also id be a lil cautious using one rig for filtering and the actualy ijection, because some of the cotton fiber might be stuck in the rig. and thats not good. also, use a decently lesser amount then u think u will need!
