Your best bet, for all intents and purposes would be to apply the patch to your skin. Put it on a clean dry area, you don't want dead skin sticking to it. Once it's on, leave it on. Taking it off will just make it impossible, or at the very least hard to put back on. Once the patch is on, it's gonna take awhile to kick in. If you want to speed this up the best way is to apply heat to the patch. Depending on your tolerance to opiates this may or may not be a good idea.
The drug will slowly build up in your system and once it does you're going to be fucking high. Heat speeds up this process, and because fentanyl doesn't fuck around, there is serious OD danger. Be careful. I personally apply heat with a heating pad or blow dryer, or even a really really hot shower. Try to do it in short bursts over a period of a couple of hours. 10 minutes max, or until it starts to hurt. Don't push through the pain, you will blister, trust me.
If it's not a gel patch, you can't smoke it. You can chew it, but I find this to be considerably less effective than just putting it on your arm. Plus a 3 day high doesn't sound all that bad, imo. If you start projectile vomiting everywhere at some point, take it off.
