A friend gave me two small baggies. One has 1.5 grams (or tablespoons i can't remember) of Syrian Rue, and another baggie with about 2.5x the volume in some chopped up green leaves which is what he told me was the ayuhasca (Though if i remember correctly Ayuhasca is the term for whatever that is combined with the Rue), but not knowing shit about this and the Erowid vaults being a little, i dunno. not sparse on information just hard to find, I thought you guys would be a better judge of what this might do, how it should be prepared for a first time if it's even enough and so on so forth. Mainly i'm just concerned with bodyload, duration and other such side effects plus how intense the experience would likely be with that much.

Those green leaves are most likely P. Viridis which is the DMT containing plant, and the syrian rue is the maoi which inhibits enzymes from breaking down the dmt in your body therefore making it active.

This thread has alot of discussion of everything from preperation to effect profile:

I see you mentioned Erowid, they have all the info you should need imo.

When I did Ayahuasca it was with 10g of Syrian Rue and 20g of Mimosa Hostilis Root Bark, though I'm guessing the leaves he gave you were probably Psychotria Viridis. Whatever experience you have with such a low dosage would be pretty light and most likely not result in a breakthrough experience. My advice to get the most from it would be, when preparing, not to use too much water. I did the mistake of adding too much water and having to drink multiple cups of the brew that resulted in a long but mellow experience (still amazing as an introduction to this great sacrament). Use enough water just to have an inch or so above your material. Also, drink the syrian rue and the leaves separately, specifically dosing the Rue 15-30 minutes before you dose the viridis, allowing the MAOI to activate before the DMT comes in. Your experience might last 2-4 hours and the bodyload isn't much beyond the smooth movement and the inevitable purge (best experience vomiting to be honest xD)

You better have a good way to grind the Rue seeds. It's nothing like grinding up Morning Glories, these shits seem to be made of titanium or something o_O; You'll want to grind those and let them seep in water (add lemon juice to acidify it and help getting the alkaloids out). It'd be best if you worked on preparing both the Rue and the Viridis simultaneously in two pots. Ingesting both the resulting tea and the material along with it is a good idea to ensure you don't lose anything (and you'll need all you can with the small amount you're working with).

Wish I could help more but I've had very few Ayahuasca experiences under my belt, but preparing it isn't as difficult as many make it out to be. Remember to respect it.

Also from personal experience its best to let most of the liquid evaporate leaving you with as little to consume as possible. My first go with ayahuasca I ended up with about 4qt of liquid to drink. :(

That didnt work out

:( I feel your pain. Except I had about 2 liters of liquid to drink.. and I foolishly dumped like half a bottle of lemon juice in it..

The bitterness has never left me to this day. ;_;

OUCH!

I haven't done ayahuasca yet... still not sure I'm ready for it... but when I do finally do it, I'm going to be very careful with my preparation lol. Especially since I've heard mimosa is NASTY

why do you think mimosa is nasty?

If you are refering to "jungle spice" extracted from mimosa, there is mostly DMT in jungle spice, it just has trace amounts of a beta carboline , but not really enough to be active at a reasonable dose according to my information that I have come across in this matter. A lot of people believe there are major differences from smoking normal freebase dmt and smoking jungle spice but chemically its just not much different

Where would you rather get the DMT from? P. viridis? some accacia ? there are other sources than mimosa im sure you are aware, what do you think would be better than mimosa?

(btw, I dont drink aya, I smoke changa, similar concept, smoke caapi and DMT rather than drinking MAIO (caapi, syrian rue, harmalas etc) and drinking DMT. it doesnt last near as long as aya, and im sure its different, but you can keep smoking like every 20 minutes for an hour or two and keep going deepr and deeper, after that you build a tollerance to it (in my experience)

I'm talking about the taste of mimosa... ayahuasca tea made from caapi and mimosa... not extracted alkaloids. The true experience... though I will leave psychotria viridis out of it.

Smoking is not the same... I've smoked DMT... Its too short to gain anything from... Ayahuasca is a purging, healing experience...

I would be more worried about downing that syrian rue than I would be worried about the mimosa.

Syrian isnt the best combination of Harmalas IMO, and is absolutely disgusting to use for tea.

Any reason that you are not using caapi? or is it just "this is what he gave me, this is what im going to do" ?

Just FYI, this technically isnt ayahuasca, this would be an ayahuasca analog.

MagicalKat,

I thought you meant the effects of DMT from mimosa were a bit nasty (thats why I thought you were talking about the content of the jungle spice (which can only really be pulled from mimosa)

have you smoked caapi + DMT also?

it is very much easier to learn from your experiences, as it slows them down and allows you to stay in that area for litterally hours if you have enough caapi and DMT (wich is surprisingly less than you would think you would need)

when you smoke caapi and spice (changa) it is a very much different experience, stil not at quite the duration of ayahuasca, and thank god there is no purging. but you can very easily make a 2 or 3 hour changa session where things keep getting deeper and deeper.

I consider smoking changa to be a bit between smoking straight DMT and having a mushroom trip, its not anywhere near as intense as "the true experience" of ayahuasca.... but then again, it is.
