I started getting drunk after I started using marijuana. Its strange that you (or at least I) never hear of alcohol being a gateway drug because that is how most of my friends started experimenting with altered states of mind.

alcohol... more specifically Absolut Vodka. and I have not looked back ever since. yeah, you don't see the anti-drug camp going on about how a perfectly legal drug, alcohol, is in fact a gateway drug - not pot.

Alcohol, because, well, I did do it first, or DXM, because that was used with more recreational intent, and was more of a gateway, in my mind.

alcohol for me and all my friends, and NO one ever says alcohol is a gateway drug so thats why i wanted to have this poll started, because i was pretty sure that would be the most common answer, maybe cigarettes next, but theres no way pot is the most common drug people try first.

I personally sipped and actually got totally wasted off of alcohol loooonnnnggg before I ever tried any other drug. I got drunk for the first time around 15/16 and i didn't try weed until I was 18.

I did meth first. My Dad's an alcoholic so I hated alcohol and I never got a chance to try pot before I got the chance to do meth. I didn't really like it. The next thing I tried was pot, but I hated it. Then I tried heroin and I fell in love.
