Just reading up on these and wow what a lovely mixture, except the Paracetamol maybe. Are there still prescribed and what for?

Yes, they are prescribed for migraines. I don't particularly care
For them because of the amount of caffeine.

. Paracetamol yes. I don't think there is any way to get the caffiene out, but I could be wrong.

I wonder why they added caffeine to the mix, to ward off drowsiness, to help the body absorb the paracetamol more quickly

Caffeine relaxes muscle contractions in blood vessels to improve blood flow.
Caffeine does help the other drugs get obsorbed but it helps with migraines by relaxing the muscles and blood vessels in the brain.

yeah but caffeine will antagonize phenobarbital's effect on GABA receptors, reducing the therapeutic effect of it...

i think caffeine is added mostly to discourage abuse, but i'm pretty sure its there to aid the painkillers as well.

It is butalbital but it acts on the same receptors as phenobarb so you are right about it effecting the therapeutic effect. I would have to agree with caffiene being put in these pills to discourage abuse, same with the APAP in alot of pills, but if you look at a lot of migraine/head ache medicine ( BC powder, exedrine, etc) they all have caffiene in them which helps with the headache.

I've found Caffiene to be the ticket to helping Opiates work better, but no too much..Maybe 50-75 mg of caffeine just to speed up blood flow a little.

Yeah StaySedated i was thinking to ward off abuse mainly and to help the painkillers, although most people drink tea or coffee daily, and i'm sure It's way over the 30mg mark

the caffeine is not in there to ward off abuse, its there because it helps with migraines.

these are still scripted. I don't know if fioricet is the one, or if its fioricet plus, but one of them also has codeine in them.

the ones without codeine were the first pills I ever took to get high. I was so dumb at the time, I didn't know anything about the pills, or anything, yet I was taking them and getting massively fucked up because I was taking like a handful at a time.

I belive it is fioricet plus that has caffience because I get fioricet for migranes and it has no codiene in it.

Secobarbital is one drug I'd love to try, Phenobarbital isn't in it's same league, but yeah it's still prescribed

oh, my bad...:\

i didn't know intermediate acting barbs were still around. i thought shitty phenobarbital was the only barb they gave out these days.

when I was taking them, I didn't know what they were, because my mom had gotten the script off a friend and the person ripped her name and the drug name off the bottle before giving it to my mom.

I just could see that it was for migraines, and that it had something called butalbital in it which sounded like it would do something (again, at the time, I was dumb and didn't know anything about pills so I shouldn't have been eating these)

I just knew if I took enough of them and smoked weed it made my vision all weird and it made me just wanna lay around on the couch and stuff. can't believe I was driving on these things too! (HIGHLY not recommended) I'd take them and then head off to a friends house, and they'd kick in when I got there and I'd hang out until I felt better. well, I got caught up having to do something after I took them and planned to leave. so the hit me on the way there and it was a larger than normal dose, luckily I had a van. I had to pull over into a parking lot and I got in the back and slept for like 2 hours.

the only way to describe seconal is beautiful. :D

i love reds, i have tried them and i wish they were more common. imagine if they were as common as valium or xanax. to bad we're not living in the 50's or 60's...

They worked on my headaches, better than midrin. But beyond that I noticed nothing.

It's prescribed for migraines, I had a nasty one once and the doctor gave me this stuff. It didn't help at all, and I wanted to rest so bad but couldn't stay still and got very jittery. I tried taking these on a few occasions, and they just make me feel like shit. I had a refill, that I never even filled, and we know that's not a typical thing to hear on BL. But yeah, fioricet sucks medically as far as I'm concerned, and I felt nothing recreational from it, even when I tried taking it without a migraine --- still just made me feel shitty.
