Hey guys, me and some friends are planning a tripping/camping weekend in november, somewhere between Sydney and Canberra would be ideal as some of us live in syd and some canberra.

Since we're going to be tripping, the most isolated, quiet and people-free area would be ideal.

Short of doing a recon trip down there to scout out places, does anyone know any good ways to find a really, really quiet spot? Do you yourself know of any?

Free would be best as I think these are generally the quietest anyway but we don't mind paying as long as we can be a decent distance from other people, or preferably the only ones there :)

I know it may be a bit of a stretch so I'm not expecting too much, so, any suggestions?

TL;DR - help me find the most isolated and people-free camping area in the sydney/canberra area =D

THANKS!!

Nah you want one of the more popular campsites so the old folks with the caravans can come and yarn to you while your tripping.

I'm going to make a judgment call and close this one.

Not really a social discussion and i'm sure the Aus DD folks won't find much in this to discuss.

I will offer this though http://www.environment.nsw.gov.au/parkinfo/guidetoparks.htm

I suggest you and your friends go over this site and learn as much as you can before you select a spot.

Also I recommend you consider some worse case scenarios before you select a location. Should one of you injure yourself, get ill or experince a drastic misadventure then you will want to be reasonably close to civilisation to get the quick help that may be required.

Good luck. This is closed.
