Hi all Carl here, I started by prescription dependency 15 years ago with oxycontin. 120mg twice a day. I would have to say that oxycontin had complete control of my life. I finally asks my doctor if I could take another medication as the oxycontin was utterly destroying every aspect of my life, i tried many alternatives, patches, injections, but always came back to oxy's. One day he said I should try morphine extended relief. This was much better as i was able to actually function and have some clarity with morphine tabs instead of oxy's. over the years i was able to taper my dose to 160, 120 and 60mg, I decided now is the time to try to quit. I am tired of being a slave to my prescription and drug..My biggest fear is the withdrawals, I ended up in the hospital one time because i ran out of medication. the pain was unbearable. After online researching i decided to try suboxone. I found a doctor and he started my treatment. I waited about 20 hours after my last morphine dose, my doctor said when i reach about a 7 in terms of the pain I could take the 8mg tab, after taking it it took about 30 minutes and all my withdrawal symptoms went away, my leg pain vanished, i was so relieved and i felt great.. the next day my doctor said i should only take 4mg, 1/2 tab. I'm on day 3 and feeling good taking 4mg once a day. hopefully i can start tapering off the suboxone in the coming weeks. thanks for having this support board! I look forward to one day being able to say I'm drug free.

Hey Carl welcome to Bluelight :)

We've got a large community that experience pain like you do, so I'm sure you'll find a lot of people in the same boat as yourself, many who take oxy/suboxone. Wishing you all the best through this mate, any troubles around here just send me a message. :)

Hi Welcome to BL ! !
I deal with chronic pain and am just off opiates, but in the struggle for sometime. Congratulations on making the switch over… :)
