Hey, everyone. My name is Nick, I'm 26, and I've been coming to BL for information and opinions from this community for around six or seven years now and I just never registered since I'm not much of a talker. I'm a "recovering" (meh, I'm sober...) heroin addict, or rather an 'any-opiate-you-can-inject' addict, though heroin was my main thing, BUT I've been sober for about 2.666666... years, thanks to Suboxone. Anyway, I thought I'd finally register and start joining in on some of these awesome conversations here instead of just lurking
I've always been extremely passionate about learning and then questioning the validity and/or accuracy of the things I learn, fact-checking, etc., and when you add that to ~12 years of nursing a lovely little opiate/opioid addiction, well, I'll just say I think I may just have some good additions on certain topics from time to time, or at least I hope! Lately I've been trying to socialize more and with the amount of information I've obtained over the years (much of it from this very website) about pharmacology, drugs, addiction, neurology, some neurochemistry and more, I thought I might fit in fairly well here in some of the topics.
Over the years there's been some times when I'd read through a thread and notice someone state a "fact" that is in fact a well-propagated myth, or something inaccurate, or whatever, and I always wanted to mention the true facts about the subject for the good of those relying on the information, but I knew one or more of the reliable, senior members would correct them, so I never ended up registering here until now. There's a handful of long-time members here (I won't name names,) from whom I've learned SO many helpful things, and those folks, plus so many more, have helped me out A LOT, so I also think of my joining in here as a small way to pay it forward in some sense. Cosmic balance!
Anyway, this is getting kind of long. I tend to start off with simple ideas and along the way of typing it things just naturally get attached, details creep out, reasons get added, et cetera, and I wind up with something quite verbose, not that it's always bad, but I initially ended up with what was basically "the abridged version of my life story" after a simple "Hello, all." haha. I've just about cut it in half now.
I hope this intro hasn't been too long, but hell, now you know a few things about me.
Also, I'm new so I can't receive very many PM's, and I don't really expect to, but I always respond to what I receive asap. If you do message me for some reason and I for some reason don't respond, I mean no disrespect! That probably just means I'm in "hide-out mode." I struggle with some often debilitating depression and anxiety, so sometimes I'll spend days at a time staying in bed... If I don't respond right away, I will as soon as I can!
Peace and love!
