films: What movie scene gets to you?

In Come And See, when Florya wanders through a night lit only by the surreal shimmer of Nazi rockets. The film's director lived through the occupation of Stalingrad, and it shows.
Ron Wells of Film Threat said:
This Soviet-era Russian film displays the horrors of World War II in a manner that makes "The Deer Hunter
" look like "The Green Berets".

The scene in Varsity Blues when Billy Bob's coach tells him he's a fat piece of shit in the locker room. Poor Billy Bob (j/k)

Seriously, three scenes from Braveheart
-The scene where young William Wallace is at his father's funeral and a young Murron gives him a thistle. The tear slowly rolls down his cheek and the music is so sad you just feel for the lad.

And then Wallace's "Son's of Scotland" speech. The whole speech from beginning to end and the vast amount of English soldiers that you see in the background. Breathtaking.

And finally the scene where Wallace is dying on the torture table and with his last gasp of energy he yells out "FREEEEEEEEEEEDOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!" Gets me every time.

-In Pride and Glory when Colin Farrell busts into the Mexicans' apt and is about to pour the pot of boiling water on the baby.

-"Ass to Ass" + "Infected Arm" in Requiem for a Dream

-In Straw Dogs when Susan George is sexually assaulted, resisting at first, and then eventually surrendering to the attack.

This scene from Before Sunrise. As soon as the music starts it makes me smile and cry at the same time. <3

And Bob/Scott's father's double funeral in My Own Private Idaho (skip to 5:04). Just the stark contrast between the two always manages to choke me up.

^That song's so enchanting. I think I fell for her a little too when I first saw that. =D <3

This scene from The Basketball Diaries always chokes me up big time.

And the end of American Beuaty.

I hate times like these!!!

I have a ton of scenes that get to me but, as usual, I'm totally drawing a blank.

Argggh.

If we're including television episodes in the discussion, I nominate the last episode of The Shield. Even months after the fact, the scenes with Ronnie getting hung out to dry are still uncomfortable to watch.

Yes! As soon as I read this I got the willies. haha

My scenes:

A Few Good Men - The "Code Red" speech in court

Ransom - the phone call scene....when the gun is shot

Cruel Intentions - the funeral at the end

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen - Optimus Prime: I'll take you all on!
