This is a trilogy of films about the hunt for the Yorkshire Ripper. One takes place in 1974, one in 1980 and one in 1983.

Thanks for the bump. Meant to watch this when it was on TV. Think the DVD got released not so long ago, so may have to procure.

Incidentally, I live very close to some of the crime scenes.

Just finished this. It's a really well produced and written film noir story loosely based on actual events that took place in the 40s in Ireland set in 1974. It's got great cinematography and isn't as heady a period piece as that description makes it sound like.
