films: Five shitty movies that everyone loves

I think all the Austin Powers movies suck.
People also love Monty Python and I have no clue why.

I will however say that I disagree the Bravheart and Kill Bill got mentioned. You may not have liked them as movies, but they were well made and I liked them.

Austin Powers was awesome... the sequals (which everyone thought were funny) were just fucking LAME and childish, I mean come on - its the same shit over and over, just more predictable and corny.

Didn't think Donnie Darko was that great.

Didn't see what all the fuss was about with Sum of all Fears, that movie sucked.

Lost in Translation was way overrated.

Didn't think Spaceballs was that funny... same with Holy Grail, even though Life of Brian was mad funny, all the hype went to Holy Grail and it was boring.

I have to admit that most of the Holy Grail is boring, but it does have it's moments.

I've only seen Goldmember once and I was on acid at the time. I swear it was the funniest thing I had ever seen at the time, I was in non-stop histerics. I'm sure it would be different story if I was sober.

karmacoma, I'm no fan of Oliver Stone. But I am very suprised that anybody could call JFK a shitty movie. I can't think of any other movie in the last 20 years that has similar impact with it's audience.

Spaceballs is just dumb.
Robocop. Ugh.
The Princess Bride
Rocky and series (I stayed away from that shite)
Mel Gibson's Hamlet. Hahaha I dont know if anyone actually likes that movie but its just in bad taste because Gibson is just a bad actor.

Die Hard

Yeah I'll agree that the other ones blow. The original is kinda 80s chic. For Back to the Future.

Any John Wayne movie.

Hitchcock. Don't get him one bit. The Birds blew.

Never seen Casablanca but never really wanted to see it.

Indiana Jones. They're okay. But I would never buy the dvd. Or be the one to say....how about Indiana Jones? in the rental place....

ET.

ET?!?!?!
how can you not like et? :[

Overrated Movies According To Me:

Forrest Gump - Beating Shawshank AND Pulp Fiction (not to mention Hanks robbing Freeman for Best Actor) could be the greatest crime in Oscar history

The Matrix - Clever concept . . . BUT horrible dialogue; Keanu "acting"; far too many mindless action sequences

Lost In Translation - I have more interesting conversations with my friends on a daily basis

Caddyshack - I can't wait to get flamed for this one . . . but in my book, if a movie can be fully appreciated by a 14 year old, it's NOT a great movie

Scarface - Not a bad movie . . . but far inferior to the similar (and vastly underrated) Carlito's Way . . . which gave us perhaps the greatest acting in the past twenty years by someone not named DeNiro (by Sean Penn)

Super Troopers - See Caddyshack

Donny Darko - Weird for the sake of being weird

Gladiator - Not bad . . . but Best Picture?!

Braveheart - Ditto

Shakespeare In Love - Double Ditto

Chicago - Triple Ditto

Titanic: Everyone knows the ending and it cost to much for the final result of "the ship still sinks". Boring as hell to boot with that lame-ass love story plot buried underneath a historic tragedy.

Godfather 3: didn't even deserve the nomination. They should've stopped at 2.

Speed: Why everyone loved that movie, I'll never know. It was slow and Keanu sucks.

Dazed and Confused: It's like That 70's Show only, not funny. The show has it's momments at least. But because it has drug references and one funny line about high school girls, it's supposedly entertaining.

Moulin Rouge: Bringing back the musical = bad idea. What a boring, awful, overly-colorful piece of crap this was.

Braveheart almost won an adademy award and got excellent ratings. That is one of my favorite movies also. That movie kicks ass, that is NOT the least bit shitty

It's shame I guess there arent really that many movies I like or can get into.
gotta disagree with lost in translation, it was a dull movie not THAT interesting but I used to live there and I've been to half the places in that movie so its nice to watch for sentimental reasons.
Gotta defend Donnie Darko too, it was dark, bit disturbed and it doesnt all end in a fairytale... nicely place outside the square. Whats not to like?

The last two matrix movies - Utter blah

The last samurai is WAY overrated

Anything like Pearl Harbour, Titanic etc all those hollywood epics are shite

Coyote Ugly - SPEW

50 first dates - can't stand most of adam sandlers films

^^^ wasn't coyote ugly just the most atrocious thing ever!?! christ, everyone either likes that, or at least defends it, saying it's "okay". but it's not. JUST NOT AT ALL :X

i'm just glad to see someone else who understands ;)

I don't think its shit. It's like another "American Graffiti"... Its classic...

uh!
no, i would never compare american grafitti to this.
same story line-esque theme i suppose but by far id say lucas did i better job. i find the time settings and the cliches of each fascinating though.
