films: Another Friendly Debate thread about the "Matrix Trilogy"

I lik ethe first one a lot, but I like the second on ea lot more. It is one of the best action movies I have ever seen. Most action movies have one good scene that they promote and advertise, this movie had at least 5 note-worthy action scenes.

I love it

I haven't seen the third Matrix yet

The music in all three films moved me beyond words.
Reloaded Soundtrack is a stroke of genius.
The way all the elements of the "franchise" have been put together is a breath of fresh air.
None of the Films in the trilogy, in my opinion, made me think more than I had to. The brothers obviously did a lot of research (or got someone to do it for 'em) and put it(IT being all the so called religious references and ancient tit bits) all together in a fresh (ish) manner and threw it at us. ...It hit a nerve at the right time. Bravo.

I actually still prefer the rawness of a film such as Empire Strikes Back, for special effects that is. (And DANDY.....I agree with ya, rubber men spinning around on wobbly sticks is not MY idea of fun either...Reminded me of the scene in Spiderman when Mr. Parker began testing his powers jumping across the roof tops...FUNNY)

I liked all three of them.

Just wanted to add I have read "the philosophy of the matrix" and "The Gospel Reloaded: Exploring Spirituality and Faith in The Matrix". I thought the second one was much better and very insightful. The first one is just a collection of writing where one aspect from philosophy (like, for example, descartes "puppetmaster") and one thing from the movies (like "cyphers' betrayal) are compared. It was actaully really dumb now that I think of it.

NINE disc Matrix Trilogy Box set (release TBA)

Includes at least the following:
-All three films plus the animatrix
-Extended version of Reloaded with ONE HOUR of additional footage (this excites me most cuz i LOVE reloaded)
-New documentaries
-New Commentary tracks (the original on matrix 1 sucked big time)
-HD film transfers

I have a friend who loves sci-fi... star trek, matrix.. you name it..

anyways.. anytime something "emotional" or "thought provoking" pops into a film... he gets all squeamish. He feels Revolutions is the best of the series and i just don't get it.

From high tech metaphors (smith- virus) , sci-fi, kung fu, love story, philisophical, action flick..which turned into an epic saga war throughout the 3 movies.. what more could you ask for. This is star wars...but more intelligent.

I personally love all 3 and think each one offers something unique.. but the 1st was definate the most well rounded.. and touched on each of it's incorporated genres very nicely. The other 2.. the balance is off quite a bit.

Frankly.. i think the original is quite powerful after reading "Matrix and Philosophy: Welcome to the Desert of the Real". But.. i'll have to check out some other books on it as mentioned above.
