Only seen this at long last the other night on Blu-ray, superb film really enjoyed it. Going watch it again this weekend as its one of those movies where u deffo pick up on things happening in the background and touches you missed on your first viewing. Pixar are amazing
i think the main tone of the movie is that wall-e encourages free thinking everywhere he goes in so many ways, and brings free thinking out in people and robots that lived in mental cages their whole lives
i just watched it. a little predictable for the most part and the moral lessons were somewhat heavy-handed but the animation absolutely blew me away and some of the detail was incredible.

While I totally agree with you about cliche'd messages of Disney brand lessons.
Its very hard to be original nowadays, in anything film, and I think its the delivery of the cliche messages which sets some of these movies apart, and while it was indeed Chuck cheesy, I was able to become "engaged" within the story and Buy it, for that moment.
