Film: Time Bandits

That old Terry Gilliam film...

It's a great, classic movie intended for younger audiences that's still entertaining and funny to adults, which is a rare breed. It's also got a really strong Monty Python element to it, probably all due to the inclusion of a couple people from Python, Gilliam's signature animated sequences, and the proximity in time to the actual Python films. Anyone else love this movie?

Evil Genius: When I have the map, I will be free, and the world will be different, because I have understanding.

Robert: Understanding of what, master?

Evil Genius: Digital watches. And soon I will have understanding of videocassette recorders and car telephones. And when I have understanding of them, I shall have understanding of computers. And when I have understanding of computers, I shall be the Supreme Being! God isn't interested in technology. He knows nothing of the potential of the microchip or the silicon revolution. Look how he spends his time: forty-three species of parrots! Nipples for men!

Robert: Slugs.

Evil Genius: Slugs! He created slugs! They can't hear, they can't speak, they can't operate machinery. If I were creating the world, I wouldn't mess about with butterflies and daffodils. I would've started with lasers, eight o'clock, day one.

great old movie! i may pick it up for the kiddies. i remember absolutely loving it.

Definately up there on my favorite fantasy flicks of all time. The devil was my personal hero.

i saw it in the theatre back in, ummmmm when did this come out? must have been '81 or so.

i was with about 6 friends. i think we laughed through the whole movie.
