I seldom ever post any more, but this needed my presence.

Natalie Portman is reported to be working with Luc Besson on The Professional 2. Just wanted to let you guys know. =)

That was the really sad part of the ending, imho, Leon was just a tool who was used his whole life and he thought his work would help Mathilda but in the end Tony just stole her money like he did his :(

Very true - however, there is yet more sadness in the end when Matilda goes off to that girls home or whatever. After losing her entire (trashy) family, gaining a friend, having a bit of hope, she loses him too, and now has to go try to be normal?!?!

Yeah, it's a sad ending :(

I have a feeling any sequel, however, would ruin the whole thing by showing her as a stealthy assassin in the future 8)

I agree with you about the sequel!

As far as best Actor, I gotta hand it to Gary Oldman.
What an amazing role he had in this movie.
A job well done on his performance without a doubt!!!!

shit, this is good news!! thanks :)

Saw this again last night, first time in a very long time. Great film. Seemed longer than i remember. Checking IMDB's alternate versions section, this must be the euro version.

bizzump. Poll?

*spoilers*

The euro version has some scenes where Mathilda and Leon go around killed various people. Not much is shown except one were Leon has Mathilda practice killing a man with some kind of paint gun, like the one she uses in the sniper rifle.

Another scene not in the america version is where Mathilda asks Leon to take her verginity, Leon declines but agrees just to share a bed. Ironically the american version leaves this(I assume "too sexual") part out and just has them wake up in a bed together, this makes it seem like a lot more!

Great movie, everone should see.

both of those scenes were in the american version... either that or i've only seen the european verson.

im suprised that so many people found the ending of this film depressing. sure it's tragic; i would've loved to see leon live. but what the hell kind of love story is that? mathilda has her whole life ahead of her. she's been in love, learned a valuable trade, and seems to be on the straight and narrow when the film ends.

how this film was never made into a sequel is beyond me

I thought it was okay. In my op, Gary Oldman is the only reason to watch this movie. Once. The rest of the dynamic doesn't work for me.

i really liked this film and hope they don't really make a sequel. some things are best left finished the way they were.

film: The Professional (a question)

In the movie just before Gary Oldman guns down Nat Portman's dad/family for cutting his coke he opens a tin and pulls out a yellow and green pill, puts it in his mouth and crushes it. Anyone have an idea what type of drug this was?

That's what I too, but Luc Besson (writer/director) stayed true to a lot in this film. Just thought it might be a drug i am not familiar with...
