Dan Brown has completely sold his soul on this POS.
i'm sure he has - in his position, who wouldn't?

it's airport trash which has made him a fortune, to which movie rights and game rights will only add. why would he turn it down?

Product integrity, if there ever was any with his work.

I draw the line when it comes to moving the rights of one work of art to a completely irrelevant medium.
Movie? Not necessary with such high book sales, but understandable.
Video game? Completely irrelevant merchandising for such a concept.

what's next? the da vinci code cola? the da vinci code home preganacy kit?

I have no qualms in suggesting that people pirate dan brown's shit if they're curious. He doesn't need the money. There's nothing in the story to really make it worth seeing on the big screen.

im still going to go see it, though i dont have high expectations. when reading the books my image of the main character was definately not tom hanks (in my head he was rather attractive - but in that gentleman kind of way).

i loved the book, i loved angels and demons more. im just intrigued by it all, though i wish i did know where to seperate the fact and fiction. i dont know enough about the history of it all to seperate it. being that skigs is pagan it gave me a lot i wanted to talk to her about in her abundance of knowledge :D a lot seemed to be right by the pagan version of events.

i couldnt use a "da vinci code home preganacy kit" - i would think its lying to me no matter what colour it turned :D

perhaps that's the mistake you're making?

given the quest/puzzle nature of the material, a video game seems like a pretty natural spin-off.

Yeah probably. I'm giving the source material far too much credit.

I could use a The Da Vinci Code real doll right about now.

cravn lies, he uses this picture as a masturbatory aid:

i started reading the book ages ago, got half way through and then stopped never having finished it.

i kinda want to see the movie now considering all the bad reviews its been getting, but before i do i really want to finish reading the book first. i tried picking it up from where i left off the other day and only read about two chapters and stopped.

hmmm at this pace i think i'll be waiting until it comes out on dvd to watch it.

ahhhaha! i watch that show every sunday morning on tbs. it cracks me up to tell young people that this is where tom hanks came from.

Well, well, well... the film is finally here. I was one of the first people I knew who bothered to read the original harcover - and truth be told, I did quite enjoy the book for a number of reasons. I have always had a penchant for many topics which Dan Brown touches on including religion, renaissance art, the history of the Knights Templar and their subsequent slaughter and supposed integration into the Freemanson society so I wasn't surprised that I was entertained.

As soon as I finished the book, I instantly began thinking about how it might fair as a major motion picture - how visually, the right director could take full advantage of the inherent beauty of the the various European cities and personalities depicted, possibly flashbacks to Da Vinci's time, the religious passions involved, etc. Well, now a couple years later I must say that I am fairly disappointed with the final execution. For those who are die-hard fans of the book (and their are many) I believe they will enjoy the film on some level, but the film is really flimsy unless you've first read the book. Ron Howard made the choice to leave out so much content from the book that I considered important to the development of the characters and of course the various back histories involved. I felt a bit cheated as I walked out of the movie theater... in almost the way that I felt I cheated myself by choosing to read "Cliff's Notes" synopsis of great books back in high school.

As for the casting, Tom Hanks was a mistake - plain and simple. He is not Robert Langdon and should not be considered for the role of Dr. Langdon if "Angels and Demons" makes it the silver screen (I'd rather see a Forest Gump II, thank you!). I thought Ian McKellen could have been perfect for the role, he is actually exactly who I had imagined for the role of Sir Teabings as I read the book. Poor character development in the FILM, not the book killed what could have been a very good performance. I concur with Goatofthenever - Jean Reno IS Fache, excellent performance on his part. I also agree that Audrey Tautou was a great choice, and I too have loved her ever since "Amelie" but I felt that similar to McKellen's performance, it was hindered significantly by the shallow script.

Oh well. :( Like many others have said before, the beauty of what Dan Brown has created is not so much in the book or (heaven forbid) the film but the newfound sense of curiousity that many people worldwide now have about the religious and historical events that make up our understanding of the evolution of modern society and the many faiths therein.

saw this movie last night with my grandma. it was long as hell and drawn out, nothing made sense ( i did NOT read the book), tom hank's performance was mediocre at best. the only reason i gave it two starts instead of one is because audrey tatou was in it! i love her.

I had the misfortune of watching The DaVinci Code on Saturday night. The performances of most of the cast, and especially Tom Hanks, seemed contrived and forced. The way that he delivered many of his lines seemed at the least pretencious.

Its important to mention, however, that I was very very stoned while watching the film. When I am in such a state I'm usually more sensitive to poor acting.

I thought this movie was so fucking long and drawn out! I felt like half the movie was me just waiting for it to be over. Unfortunately I was with my mom who was all into it and didn't want to leave. ugh.

However the one thing I absolutely loved about the movie was all the great scenery and getting to listen to some french, italian, and latin was also something I really enjoyed.

But I would definately NOT reccomend this to anyone.

i gave it 3...it was entertaining..and the psycho-albino guy was a nice touch of insanity...but did it really take THAT long to say "holy grail = this chicks vagina"?

and heres another thing, is it a sin to FUCK the holy grail? what happens if you cum inside the holy grail?? like "dude, uh, sorry, but i like...jizzed in the holy grail/decendant of jesus christ himself" how would THAT go over?

(if im misinformed on anything i just said here im sorry, its just that w/o gunshots or explosions and such, i lose my attention after about an hour...and the last portion of the movie was very much without the albino guy or gunshots or the like....so i was like...HALF paying attention and half wanting a cigarette)
