Now this was a good film. A conspiracy story that doesn't ever feel cut out from the Hollywood suspense mold. Rather, it's told elliptically, so that it unfolds like a great novel. And while the conspiracy at its heart is chilling and disturbing, the story also feels quite lonely, as much about lost love as it is about bad guys. Ralph Fiennes is just amazing in his role.

Probably the best film I've seen this year. What do you all think of it?

I saw it last week and really enjoyed it
I liked the way it jumped around chronologically with flashbacks, it really kept me on my toes
beautiful cinematography too
directed by Fernando Meirelles, who also did City Of God

Amazing film, went to see it the other day.

I thought it was really powerful showing how corrupt pharmecutical companies can be. It was shocking to see how the company cares more for its profits than its patients. One of those films where someone manages to show how good humans can actually be, when everyone around them is either dejected or corrupt.

I really liked the way he developed as he became more and more involved with his wifes work, even to the point of using the words she used against him. 'Here is someone we can help here and now'. But unfortunately the system in place wouldnt allow it.

I hope that makes sence, really moving.:)

I liked this movie as well. Not necessarily a great movie in and of itself, but the fact that it urges us to do good in this world in a very real way is something 99.9% of films don't even try at much less accomplish.

rate this movie (especially posner)

A fine film with an important message. I found it brilliantly structured and played.
My only criticisms would be the gritty editing which worked so well in City of God seems a little out of place, and they milk the infidelity element slightly too much.

the film has lots of beautiful African scenes and some fine performances. the underlying message is powerful too. however, i was impatient with how the movie kept so much secret for the first hour. there are a slew of character names that were sometimes difficult to keep track of.

Having recently seen Lord of War when I saw this I thought it was another very good film portraying the immoral activities of business, both legitimate and criminal, around the world today. I thought the acting was good, the story was well planned as little bits get revealed at the time, the locations were also very impressive too. The only thing I felt was lacking a bit was the ending, I thought it would be very unlike a Westerner to let themselves get killed like that but all in all I thoroughly recommend it!

I really liked this movie, although I wasnt really sure what was happening for the first hour or so like banquo said, but was very impressed once it explained a bit more.

3.5 out of 4

Just watched this movie the other day. The cinematography is amazing. This director has a unique way of capturing the vibrant color of life. Africa looks beautiful.

I saw this yesterday and I was really pleased.

While I think the political part of the movie was rather oversimplified, it was a nice backdrop to one of the best love stories I have ever seen. I've read reviews where critics say this is a story about a man falling in love with his dead wife, but I disagree. The love was there all along and this film is simply about him coming to understand his wife and her motives and his evolving through his love for her.

Great film.

Cant wait to see this ......no doubt Fiennes will impress me as much as he did in the English Patient, another movie I really love. :)

just watched this. i had heard mostly good things about this in terms of acting, direction, etc.

nobody, surprisingly, mentioned how beautifully shot it was - contrasting with the subject matter, it's one of the most beautiful (to look at) movies i've seen in a long time.

I was very bored during it. Movies like this are like coffee to me; they make me feel like a kid and seem too adult for me to enjoy :(
