I was really dubious about this movie, based on Ashton Kutcher being the lead. But I watched it anyway and really enjoyed it. I would definately recomend people put aside their preconcieved ideas and give this one a go.

in the director's version, i'd like to know how evan not being born prevented the twins, kayleigh and tommy, from being stuck with the creep dad.
my guess: since the mom saw her kids had no playmates in the area with the dad, she didn't find the area suitable. if that is the real reason, that's a shitty reason regardless.

Kayleigh only stayed living with her dad becuse she wanted to be near to Tommy... the movie explains this.

^^that hand/pseudo-stigmata scene was really confusing. It was almost as confusing as watching the gay inmate skinheads, otherwise known as the "sisters" reading Hustler porn mag, before Kutcher is about to give them oral sex. If they're so gay why are they viewing hustler.

They were not "gay" at all.... just dudes who had been locked up for 10+ years. Reading a Hustler beforehand made it a little easier in the cold, dark prison cell full of men to imagine they were riding a Hustler Centrefold as opposed to riding Ashton Kutcher.

It wasn't showing how gay they were/were not, it was showing how desperate they were.

not a terrible film but certainly not worthy of the 3 star rating given here. it's really just another one of those viewable but disposable films that resembles an extended music video with a plot, if you know what i mean.

ashton kutcher's acting isn't too bad overall, but check the scene where his character is eating nervously after just getting out of jail. his performance here is hilarious and i can't believe the director/editor used this take.

I thought they were reading his journals?

Also, i loved this film. I wasn't looking out for bad acting or whatever you guys dislike about it so maybe i didn't take a good look at it, but for a first watch, totally unpredjudiced, i really liked it. Got me thinking, and for some reason it made me think alot about my ex...anyone else have that happen?

FILM: The Butterfly effect

Anybody seen this film starring Ashton Kutcher(that 70's show)? Just seen it today on DvD and this has to be the best film i've ever seen, well written well acted, well told, etc. Everything about it just kept me interested and it felt like anything could happen in the next scene, which is what happened. I don't watch films too often anymore cause they're all usually the same to me, but this had a nice twist to it at the end and it was like I was on rollercoaster of emotions, which is what makes a good film imo. Also Ashton really impressed me with his acting, never seen him act in that way before.

Can't find one bad thing about the film really, but if you haven't seen it yet, go and see it! For those of you that have, what did you think about it? Really made me think a bit after watching it.

EDIt- Just started a thread on this without realising there was already one on it and my message appears to of been moved into this one, can't be bothered to re-write it atm so i'll leave it as it is. %)

i liked this but i saw the ending where things are "nice" would hace preferred to see the not so nice ending- seems more befitting of the characters.

I felt that it was a good movie and a great concept, but Kutcher was the wrong person for the part. He just doesn't gel with me as a serious actor (or even a comedian, for that matter).

quick capsule review... piece of shit. don't be confused... piss poor twist... pathetic story and absolutely nothing thought provoking at all. 'the jacket' was infinitely better... not hard when it's scores a ZERO!
