Film: The Butterfly Effect

who has seen the preview for "the butterfly effect?"

anyone??? just wondering what you all think. would you see it???

i would definately see it.

for all those who arent in the know... the story goes something like this:

a young man's girlfriend dies. he leaves her a note on her coffin before it gets buried that says something along the lines of "ill come for you" or something like that. well he finds out by remember the past (by reading his journal entries) he can recall those memories of his past and go back to them. he wants to change them... to help his loved ones. well he goes back to his perfect girlfriend... a man approaches them and an aggressive attack goes down... then you see him (the lead character) in prison (assuming the man died). while in prison he does it again... goes back into the past... to try to make things ok again... this time... his girlfriend is a big drug addict, looks like crap, and is (i believe with another man). well everytime he goes into the past to right things... something goes horribly wrong and he cant make them better. there's more crazy shit but i forget the rest. it looks really cool it reminds me of a real life prince of persia for our generation.

I wanna see this movie too. It does look rather cool, kinda weird considering its ashton kutcher. but the plot for it does seem rather cool, I just hope the whole movie is cool or if its one of those all the good parts are in the preview

This looks very interesting, I have always wondered about the concept of what if you didnt do this, will ur life be different, or if u done that would ur life be completely different etc. Cant wait!!!

I have no desire to see this whatsoever. Just casting Ashton Kutcher as the lead already gives me doubts about the quality of the acting, and from the previews it looks pretty crappy. The idea itself doesn't hold much appeal; the butterfly effect is a pretty well known idea, and the Simpson's already did it better.

I think they chose the wrong name considering what I've seen from the movie doesn't really have anything to do with chaos theory.

i dont have anything against ashton kutcher other than the fact that dousche bags seem to him, but he himself is alright with me. i just think this movie looks rather cool. and its nice to see him doing something other than the usual goofy/stupid guy.

I've been waiting for this movie for a while now! It opens here on the 23rd and Im just hoping its not cheesy. So many movies have great potential but just end up being lame and predictable. I like Ashton, he's a little goofy but we'll see if his movie skills are any good.

This movie has actually been getting really great reviews on aint-it-cool-news. If you're not familiar with the site, it's a lot of film geeks who take their films very seriously, and almost all agree that Butterfly Effect is surprisingly good. Every review starts off with "I hate Ashton Kutcher, but. . ."

looks really stupid, seems like the ending is gonna be something like, "it's fate that the gf dies, so there is nothing ashton can do......unless he like sacrifices himself for her life or something."

That's exactly what I was going to respond with!
"if you ever go back in time, whatever you do, don't step on anything!"

I dunno, if this does get semi-decent reviews I'll probably check it out on HBO.
