film: The Assassination Of Richard Nixon

Yeah it looks good....I keep trying to rent it but its always checked out.

You should rent it! Of course IMDB's user comments hold it in fair esteem while RottenTomatoes seems to be half and half. Of course more reviews on RT are written by established movie critics (or at least they think they are)

If you're looking for a movie with great meaning or a complex plot this ain't it. But if you want a performance driven movie with great preformances from Naomi Watts and Don Cheadle and of course a moving Sean Penn role, then you won't come away dissapointed

yeah I could care less about anything that a movie does if it remains true to what its trying to do. I like all kinds of movies, I adore character driven films too, plus sean penn is kickass, even though he was whining at the academy awards, and i get sick of his activist silliness.

yeah well i don't want to follow their pesonal lives, but it was put on an awards show, not that i base good movies off awards, but I do like to see good ppl get notice.

yea best actor, but he was ranting on chris rock's joke regarding jude law this year, i mean i didnt agree with rock's joke, but i like rock, hes great!

I don't know what happened, I went to blockbuster, it was out, then went to Hollywood video, and I have two accts there I can rent under, one on my name, and one on my mom's, now mine owes late fees, so he said i gotta pay 4 dollars to rent, so i stormed out of there, how would u of handled it? would u have asked them to call your mom so u can rent under her name, even though Im already under her account? b/c she doesn't owe late fees, b/c they could do that, but im shy so i just stormed out of there. they had the movie too, dammit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

His bus/tire thing was a good idea, am i wrong? if that went nationally, i mean its not the same as AAA is it?

yep my dad made a comment about sports, my brother said, I know Houston will beat Dallas, my dad said

"you dont knwo anything, thats why they play the game"

he's right....we don't know, we aren't psychics, booooyaaaaaaaaaa

Film: The Assassination of Richard Nixon

The Assassination of Richard Nixon

Stars: Sean Penn, Jack Thompson, Don Cheadle, Naomi Watts

I saw this a couple weeks ago, and found it to be a very high quality production all round. Penn & co. play the fragilities of everyday desperation with heart wrenching realism.

But, this is the most depressing movie I have seen in a very long time. The three others who saw this with me all had the same question repeated in their heads as I did. Where is the entertainment value of this? What is the purpose of this movie? What is meant to be taken away from it? etc etc

With all of us it cut a little too close to home with ourselves and/or our loved ones (at our worst times). These characters just seemed too familiar and we really didn't feel the need to be reminded of such things.

It's not like there is no answers to the above, only they're hard to come by and can seem to clutch at straws. My best (most positive) take is that this states that the desperation depicted is more common than we'd like to admit.

While it is very well made, and I can appreciate that, it's just simply "no fun", and on more than one occasion I really just wanted to be doing something else.

Apparantly based on a true story. Anyone else catch it?
