downloaded it the other night, thought it was pretty funny at times, it was kinda so over the top tho it felt empty, like it didnt have heart lol...it was good tho. it was funny as shit when fogel gets punched in the face by the robber and they keep playing the video over again at the bar.

it was a good movie, plus the whole reason i wanted to see it was cause of george micheal bluth lol...micheal cera is funny as hell.

Much of the writing is genuinely very clever, and the lines (when delivered right) will have you busting up. It drags in parts and relies too heavily on raunchy humor to appeal to the lowest common denominator but nevertheless, Superbad is better than most of the comedies of the last 7 years... which is a depressing indictment of the genre.
.

But dude, does anybody here remember bein that young....It aint like they were relying on this kinda humor, just makin it realistic to how kids that age talk. If they didnt put that shit in there, it wouldnt really be that realistic IMO....

Anyways, i fuckin died laughin thru the first half of this movie,,the second not at much but prolly cuz i wa fuckin noddin and missed alot of it.

When he goes in there and his license says "Mclovin" i just couldnt stop laughin yo. God damn that was funny. I dont know why it just was. Either way Ima give it 4 stars. good shit. And hell yea for the good ol' pirate bay.

I feel cheated.
They never released cool high school movies like this or Napoleon Dynamite when I was in high school. We were fed shit like Clueless and Empire Records and told "Identify with this!"

woah woah woah empire records is like a biography of my teen years.

diet pill addiction, little trouble with money, screwed an aging celeb on a copy machine... ahh those were the days

Fucking great. Saw it on Thursday and I'm going to see it again today.

Fogel is brill.

"I'll be like the Iron Chef of pounding Vaaaaaag" was my fav line.

bought it on dvd for my brother for Christmas so i could see it again. The line-o-rama in the extras in fucking amazing. who the hell voted this movie a 1 star? lol

will definitely agree with it's good qualities in comparison to comedies of the past few years. i enjoyed this movie. michael cera is exceptionally humorous.

I was wondering that myself. I bought the DVD without the extra disc and opted to get the one that came with the holographic McLovin driver's license. It even came with the soundtrack.

^^^ Truth be told. Working in a high school, I know that is how kids speak constantly.

This film had such funny dialogue. I thought one of the funniest parts was when Fogel first showed his "McLovin" ID to Seth and Evan. "Who are you, Seal?" great stuff.

Ouhh you work in a high school? I'm guessing you're getting really sick of kids mimicking this one. How many times a day do you hear "boop"? I might be way off but I remember being in high school and how film memes raged for way too long.

meh...it was really good. but after all the hype, i was expecting the second coming of Animal House, which it wasn't.

The second of two films tonight that I've switched off half-way through. :(

I'm pretty sure I'd have thought it was brilliant if I was 15 years old. That sounds a little snide, but I really don't mean it that way.

The dialogue was well-performed, snappy and reminiscent of the coming-of-age, gotta-get-laid, school-as-a-prssurecooker films of the late 80's. Animal House is a interesting parallel, even Caddyshack shares that awkward documentation of Youth's desperation for a sexual encounter... but both those films were funny. With Superbad, the dialogue - though quick and delivered with accuracy - isn't anything more than a stream of childish over-use of swearing and name-calling. It's trash.

Maybe it is "more real", but reality isn't always funnier. Especially if your subject matter is a bunch of irritating schoolkids. Teenagers are hardly ever fun to be around; even less to watch making 'wanking' motions; lesser still to listen to them drone on and on about pussy. Being as teenagers are essentially adults with temporary brain damage - films about them need to avoid being real at all costs. At least... they do if they want to be entertaining.

I think I just tripped up over the generation gap.

i am easily amused and thought it was pretty funny, but like tambourine man, it must be the age gap that makes it lose its charm.

funniest movie in years i certainly don't believe. i laughed much more at 40 yr old virgin, super troopers, grandmas boy....to name a few.

Agreed, except for Grandma's Boy. Ew.

I thought the jokes to do with the dick drawing were funny, however the rest was a bit yawn inspiring.

The Dick Tiananmen Square drawing was hilarious, just like the rest of the movie

Just released on dvd here in Australia, and I hired it last night. There were a dozen or so big laugh out loud moments.
My favorite character was Seth/Jonah Hill, who had some hillarious one liners but he did go on and on a bit too much.

Its funny how characters can really effect you emotionally in real life.
The guy who liked spitting on people got exactly what he deserved

While writing this I have been checking out the imdb page of quotes. I have been LOLing all over again. Here

4 stars

Edit: I saw the three main actors on Letterman before it was released in cinemas. There wasnt much acting going on in the movie so it seems, or their personality IRL was written into their characters.
