poll?

I thought this film was GREAT!:D A piss take from start to finish.

Opening on rolling waves the title appears in bold capitals "SNAKES" but after a distict beat, in smaller captials fading in slowly "ON A PLANE" as though the film questions it's own sincerity and adds an invisible "?WTFBBQ!".
Next we see a short montage of beach cliches supposedly meant to set the scene: hawaii, but this didn't quite work right because the beach was dimly lit, underpopulated and THERE WERE NO HAWAIIANS!
Along with completely unnecessary blatant exposition during the murder scene, the pathetically written opening dialogue between the stewardesses and a plane full of caricatures, these all achieve a superfecta of stupidity and retardation.
Normally, any one or two of these would immediately render a film substandard, but being as how they're all encompassing in SoaP, the cliche rich environment actually add to the film, especially since many of them aren't even done well, but that's entirely the point.
This film isn't "so bad that it's good" ala Edward D Wood Jr, who's infamous films strike a chord of woeful creativity in all they're genuine seriousness (which i adore BTW), it's "so good at making fun of bad filmmaking that it's good".
Anyone who takes this film seriously, just doesn't get much about films IMO. It's not that hard to understand what a cliche is. This film takes cliches, and does them with further cliches, thus resulting in very good absurd humour.
Even Samuel L Jacksons "motherfuckin snakes on a motherfuckin plane" spiel, built up to rather late in the film fails miserably in any genuine dramatic impact. All that remains with it is the film equivalent of the "i didn't do it boy" episode of the simpsons, in that it's just a SLJ catch phrase, used for the sake of using it, rather than any real need for the character to actually begin cursing.
I enjoyed this film more than i expected. It brings back the airplane disaster schlock of Airplane (aka Flying High) and even steals one of it's siganture lines. SoaP a well made joke. Shit, David Koechner is in it!
And it's acronym is SOAP! Whether intended or not, this fits the bill perfectly.
4/5
seriously

then again, maybe it was the bourbon i spiked my bucket of coke with talking.

i've HAD it...

my favorite thing about this movie is the interviews with jackson talking about why he was working on the film. made me smile. oh yeah and of course that tag line.

Just a dreadful movie. It doesn't help that I want every snake on earth dead, but sheesh I know it was supposed to be a corny Z-grade movie however there are limits. One star.

I just saw this for the first time last night. It never appealed to me before, it didnt last night either but my boyfriend insisted, saying its his "favorite movie of all time"

GIVE ME A BREAK

If they were trying to be campy...they should have made it more obvious I guess. I just felt like some asshole made a bet that he could made a ridiculously stupid movie and still make millions--and probably won. I'm just gratefull that they didt get any of MY money
