my mom worked with the catering crew for this movie. she got to see all the costumes and actresses all goth'd up right after filming and apparantly it was quite a treat. she got to take home fun stuff from the set too :D

OMFG

SEE. THIS. MOVIE. :D

I just got back from a sneak preview, and I was--and still am--totally floored. This is a stunning work in so many ways. Sure, it's something of a panegyric to machismo and extreme violence, but it's done with consummate style and--dare I say it?--sensitivity and honor. I've heard some of the reviewers call it an instant cult classic, and I totally agree. Hell, to say that this will only have a "cult" following seems a little too narrow, having seen it.

Lots of people clapped when the credits rolled on this one, as did I; even though I felt like I'd been punched in the stomach, I was equally exhilirated and thrilled, like I'd just gotten off the ride of the century. I still have trouble finding words to describe the magnitude of the experience, and any I find will not do it justice. I will *definitely* see it again once it's in wide release, and probably add it to my personal collection.

Once again: see this movie, especially if you're not squeamish about violence and gore. Any way you can.

P.S.--For the record, I've never read any of Frank Miller's works, and know almost nothing about his work aside from that he created the classic "Dark Knight" comics.

Oh, and to second one of the reviewers: Elijah Wood will never have to worry about being typecast as Frodo again.

OH CHRIST OH CHRIST OH CHRIST OH CHRISt!!! thank you so much for the review, i'm set to go see it this friday be it rain or snow!! I have been pumped for this movie ever since I saw the first trailer, now I have renewed enthusiasm after reading your excellent review! Woop woop! Big man coming through to see sin city so fucking watch yo ass!

so what does it mean when Tarantino is labeled as "guest director" isn't more than 2 directors a little too much?

Im sooooo anxious to see this movie, hopefully it delivers!

Go watch it. I really liked it and reccomend it. I'm going to see it again.

I'll wait till more people see it to give a further review.

Insane...

I saw this last night and it was nuts. I saw 5 or 6 people walk out due to violence. I've never read any of Miller's work but I had an easy time following the plot and the characters. The paceing was great, it never seemed slow. This will definately win an award for cinematography.

I was particularly impressed with Mickey Roark's acting job, usually I don't like him as an actor but he was cast perfectly. Willis and Del Toro were great too. I had no idea what to expect going in but with equal parts sex and violence mixed with a good story and great cinematography you really can't lose. It's total film noir mixed with a comic inspired movie done properly.

Spoiler:

The only thing I found kinda gross was Willis' second disarming of Stahl's character, you know what I mean.

..........Right after the movie ended, the stuck up high school girls sitting in front of me said,

"That had to be the biggest waste of time ever......Fuckin seven bucks for that?!"

That only made the movie that much better........

This movie is IT! It's the real deal.........

Elijah Wood's character is probably my favorite......creeeeeeeeeeeeepyyyyy

The music was just so great, the look of the movie. Sin Cityis like everything you wanted an old film noir movie classic to be.

saw it last night, best movie i've seen in a long time.

definately not for the squeemish.

i read in one review that they were trying to get a pg-13 rating... right.

don't wait for video, see it in the theater!

Absolutely--I think this movie *must* be seen on the big screen.

To echo the thoughts of a few other reviewers, this is just the kind of movie we need as an antidote to an America trying too hard to be antiseptic. I found this movie to be tremendously cathartic.

One thing I will say, my gf jumped a bunch of times, go watch it in the theater for the sound alone. I don't care how good your home theater systems are, nothing does justice to a gunshot like a movie theater sound system.

From what i understand he did just the fight scenes......His fight scene resume is quite imprssive......Im psyched to see this

I was psyched to see this. Bought tickets hours in advance. I figured it would be a landmark film and rock my world. It didn't.

I was paying more attention to the ache in my ass from sitting too long. I didn't like the acting style...over or underacting? I know that was how the movie was supposed to be, similar to the novel dialogue.

I do have to give props to Mickey Rourke...nicely done, Mickey.
Jessica Alba...once past the super inflated lips that girl can slinkily shake her ass beautifully.

This was a great movie. It really took me in, and was jaw dropping to say the least. Definate props to Mickey..his performance was awesome.
