Yeah, we all know your stance on pirating things, keystroke. 8)

hey keystroke-

you know where I can find a free theater with an IMAX scren and state-of-the-art sound system? If so, share!

Sorry Julia

Alright, I finally caught this one. The best part of the movie were the previews I saw for The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and Jarhead which looks fucking awesome.

I watched a good portion of Firefly, and obviously Fox basically shot that series in the foot by airing episodes out of order and whatnot. But truly, it's a thing that belongs on the small screen. It did not make the transition from space-western television saga to compelling motion picture very smoothly. A lot of this was due to poor acting. You can get away with sub-par acting on television; on the big screen it just grates on the nerves.

The effects were not terribly awe-inspiring and the story was lacking. The character development was shallow and transparent and the plot was predictable. It was a poor synthesis of western, sci-fi and horror elements and it just didn't work. It worked on TV, yes, but not in a feature length motion picture.

River was sweet though. :)

i just got back fromk seeing this, and i must say i loved it....definitely better than any of the last 3 star horrors....river was absolutely gorgeous, wut a cutie :)....my only qualms is that the one space "battle" scene went by way too fast...all the fight scenes were awesome, esp the one where river pwned the reavers :)

I gave it a 3/4. Very entertaining movie; not groundbreaking, but well worth seeing. If you liked the original Star Wars, you'd like this. Solid acting, clever dialogue, all in all a good movie.

I finally got around to watching this film. I bought Firefly and Serenity on DVD a few months ago with the intentions of watching the series before the film. Within the first two episodes of Firefly I was astoundingly hooked. What a great concept for a show. I could really see it being a viable future for humanity, ie. sure there is greater technology but the problems we have now still remain. I loved the cast and their interactions with each other. Not sure why so many are talking about bad acting...I thought they all did a great job. There was also the element of campy one-liners, but I feel it contrasted nicely with the exceptionally dark aspects of the story.

I'm glad I watched the series first as I felt at home watching Serenity. I already knew the characters, their attitudes and temperaments so I just got to enjoy the story line as an extension of the show. The CGI effects were top notch and fit in seamlessly with the filmed scenes. I also especially enjoyed the old school camera work with imperfect framing and plenty of zooms--nice to see that idea come off the shelf. As much as I liked this movie, I wholeheartedly believe that I enjoyed it more because I knew the series. I'm sure I still would have liked it having not seen the show, but there would have been many unanswered questions concerning the choices some of the characters make in the movie.

It's a real fucking shame that Fox royally screwed the show by preempting it and airing episodes out of order because the plotline of Serenity would have made one hell of a season 2.

so far after one quick google all the reviews I've found have said if you aren't a fanboy of the show this movie is going to suck.

Bingo!!

First time i saw this movie i thought it sucked.....However a few years later...a friend gave me the TV series and i really got into that....then i re-watched the movie and i thougt it was pretty good....Although they had to really speed up the storyline and skipped a bunch to mae the movie work....

Overall i give it a 3.5 out of 5 stars....having seen the show first....But with seeing the movie by itself....Its only a 1.5 out of 5 :\
