Saw is the kind of movie that would totally suck to watch twice because the whole appeal is basically the writters saying gotcha

i watched it a second time and it wasn't as good but was still enjoyable.

I guess I'm in the minority in thinking the first one really sucked ass. I'm sure I'll go see the sequel, since there isn't much to choose from at the moment, but my expectations will be even lower than they were for the original, since I found that pretty disappointing.

i dont know where they would go with a sequel to saw. saw 2 will probably suck. 28 days later is like affirmative action for horror movies there is no way it could be considered better than good.

28 days later and horror should NEVER be used in the same sentence!
If you thought that 28 Days Later was a horror movie, then you are probably the same moron that thought Little Nicky was a horror movie as well.

Anyway, on the topic of Saw II..........
I definitely think that this is what horror fans have been waiting for a long time.
Finally we get to see gore again in a horror movie that doesn't involve cast members of the WB.

Uh, 28 days later was most DEFINITLY horror. The whole way the disease was created was incredibly stupid, but after that the situation was pretty cool. I'm a sucker for zombies. ;)

I just saw the SAW 2 previews and honestly was not too impressed, if it's just a crappy rehash of the first one I am going to be -pissed- off. I hope they bring at least some elements of originality to this film like the original did to the thriller genre.

i think of 28 days later as a horror movie. am i a moron?

to me, it certainly fits the definition of a horror movie. if it's not, how would you describe it?

Personally, I think the follow-up to Saw would've been better served as an HBO mini-series than a sequel film. On PPV Cable, a mini-series could get away w/ about as much as it did on film, and the director could go more in depth into Jigsaw's games by making each episode center around one of his victims. At least in this method, the build-up to the finale would be worth it.

That would be a good idea. Good thinking.

You are way wrong on both parts.

28 Days Later is a part of the horror genre. I'd like to hear how you think otherwise. If you seriously believe that a sequel to such a mediocre film as Saw is really something that horror purists have been waiting for, then you my friend, are the moron. Saw was for horror what Titanic was for chick flicks.Seriously. It pandered to the lowest common denominator of the movie-going masses emotions. It wasn't a brilliant twisty edge of your seat thriller. Any "plot twists" that it had were set up by massive misdirection. The same mindless slight of hand techniques that magicians use. Look over here while what's really going on is over here. Meanwhile set up some highly stylized, overly complex ways of killing people for the plain shock value and to help further distract your audience. The reason why no one saw the end of that movie coming was because it involved a minor throw-away character. You didn't see the ending coming because there wasn't really any way you could have. The Sixth Sense had a twist ending. The Usual Suspects... that was a twist. Respectable twists. The kind of endings that aren't based upon simple smoke and mirrors.

If you really think that any self respecting hardcore horror buff is wetting him or herself in anticipation of a sequel, you probably don't know much about horror.

adios,
Steve

i thought that the inital idea for the first movie, and then story that followed was great. but still, i was let down by a couple of elements i.e. the quality of acting by some, hence i don't know if i'll bother seeing this. all though if i remember correctly (which i have a feeling i don't) i think the doctor dies in the first one, so this might actually be okay ;)

Dead on right man. Saw was pretty much a run of the mill horror movie. Not bad, not good, just mea. Saw 2 looks a little better though.

28 days was more of a action thriller than a horror movie though.

I went in to see 28 Days Later thinking it was gonna be a gore fest like the movies I love, and I thought it sucked donkey balls.

Saw was amazing. It had plenty of gore, lots of twists, and had a very suprising ending. Cmon, nobody thought that Jigsaw was the dead guy in the middle of the floor. I thought Danny Glover was the killer for most of it.
Saw was simply what every other horror movie wishes it was. My only complaint was the acting. The two main charecters were AWFUL!!!
Thankfully this time, the director actually has a decent budget to work with, so I look for this film to be much better than the first. The preview doesn't really show us to much, but neither did the trailor for the first one.

And I've prolly seen SAW 5 or 6 times. I still haven't gotten tired of it. I'm definitely excited about SAW 2. It's about fucking time we get an "R" rated horror movie, not the PG-13 we get all the preteens in the theatre bullshit (i.e Cry Wolf, Boogeymen, where do I stop)!

there was a clip from saw 2 on tv last night- pretty good clip, i'm excited about this movie. there was definitely a good amount of fucking-with-the-victims'-heads going on... looks promising.

I just got done reading Dayton Daily News' review of Saw 2, and it got a C. Not bad at all.

This is a piece of the article:: "Watching a junkie crawl through a haystack of used syringes seeking the antidote for the "nerve agent" . That sounds pretty brutal!!!!!!!

To sum it up, SAW 2 only has one ambition- to make us squirm. And it does, plenty and plenty of times!!!!

This is what I've been waiting for for a long time!
