i wonder if i'm the only person in the world who actually likes this film.

actually, i checked imdb and there's one positive review - funnily enough i doubt that person even saw the same film. they comment on the amazing depths of characterisation and how lizzy is cute and naive. right...

so anyway, i liked this a lot. the cinematography - the dude whose last name i can't spell...erik sjolskgaerd or something, that directed insomnia, directed this - is fantastic in parts. the music ain't bad. the performances are really good. ricci carries herself with her usual drama, but she's real, still.

heche is a good cameo, and i really liked jessica lange's performance as the mother - reminded me a lot of ellen burstyn in requiem for a dream.

the themes were very intriguing and dealt with really well, i thought. i could imagine - though hopefully will never reach - similar things happening. it was portrayed very frighteningly but very real.

i wonder if those who hated this movie are those who've read the book - i haven't, yet. what do those who haven't read it think?

Prozac Nation (by Elizabeth Wurtzel) is my most favorite book. And I will never read a book that I find to be better than it.

I had no idea they made a movie about it though 8o I know a couple years ago they were filming one but for some reason they never finished it up.

I wonder where I can get it on DVD? I find it weird that I've never seen the movie anywhere, and that I wasn't aware of it. I'm sure its great though.

And I recommend that everyone read the book. I let my roommate borrow it on her trip to Italy and I'm just hoping it comes back in one piece (its been read so much that its tattered and falling apart lol) because I miss it :p

Christopher Nolan made Insomnia
Nolan also made MEMENTO and Batman: The Beginning

Anyhow, this sounds like an interesting film. I'll have to find out who the director of Prozac nation is

^^different insomnia.

Erik Skjoldbjærg made a movie named insomnia in 1997.

I've kind of been wanting to see prozac nation. But i never see it, and it doesn't sound good enough to acctually seek it out.

nolan's insomnia is just a remake of the original.

Only thing I like about this film was the opening scene with ricci nude, that was great, she looked amazing. Was all downhill from there imo.

Ricci's character just wasnt that believable, like she supposedly had all these problems but I wasn't exactly sure what they were. She just seemed to be a spoilt little brat and I didnt like her character at all. And the part where she stayed up for days writing and shit she was supposedly all these drugs but never showed them that annoyed me. Also scene where she said to her shrink 'i need some fucking tranqs to get down from all this coke' or something like that it made her look like a fucking little snot and made me dislike her character alot. I know this is really just nit picking but I can't remember much else about this movie, just that i didn't like it.

I think it may have been because of my high expectations though as the guy at the video store said it was fantastic and Ricci was amazing in it. But yeah I didnt think so.

I liked the movie but found it a little stressful to watch. Christina Ricci was excellent, as usual.

Maybe that's because you've never met someone with those problems. It hit home with me.

She did seem like a spoiled little brat, though...
